Marc Trestman to be Bears HC

Wow....Milkman will be pleased his "guy" is back in the NFL.

http://tracking.si.com/2013/01/11/be.../?sct=uk_t2_a3

The Chicago Bears have selected Canadian Football League coach Marc Trestman as their new head coach according to Fox Sports’ Jimmy Johnson via Twitter.

The Bears have not made an official announcement yet.

Trestman, 56, has been head coach of the CFL’s Montreal Alouettes for the past five years, winning two Grey Cups in three championship games.

His NFL resume includes stints teaching the West Coast offense as offensive coordinator and quarterback coach for the Browns, Cardinals, Dolphins, 49ers, Lions, Raiders and Vikings.

That or I just didn’t give enough of a shit to pay attention until the word was attached to football.
Besides I’m not sure “singing” is how one would describe the noise that comes from my vocal cords.

What about Trestman makes you think he'd be a worthy NFL HC prospect? Why is it that there are 7 NFL HC openings and no one is considering Trestman for an interview?

Let's hear you explain your rationale for why you think Trestman is a good HC prospect.

I would say this is the case for the vast majority of NFL level coaches.

The Bears offense has been stuck in the 50's for more than 60 years. They continue to hire head coaches with defensive backgrounds (Ditka, Jauron, Wannstedt, Smith, etc.) and it was time they finally hire a coach with an offensive background.

This may be slightly "Out of the Box" but it's exactly what the Bears needed.

Trestman makes good adjustments, gameplans well, and has two Grey Cup championships and another appearance in five years. While you may go 'but it's only 8 teams', it's still a very difficult league to win a title in. And the stuff he does to be successful in the CFL, his preparation, his game planning and adjustments, his work with his quarterback, his leadership, that recipe for winning doesn't change, no matter if you're in the CFL, NFL or Pop Warner.

If Marc Trestman had coached the past five years at NC State, nobody would have a problem with this. He's coached in a tougher league (I don't care what anyone says, getting all these guys from Texas to learn the nuances of the Canadian game is a damn challenge) than mid-major college, and he's had more success over that stretch than everyone except John Hufnagel.

He's an excellent hire for the Bears, and finally Jay Cutler has an offensive-minded HC who won't be out to instantly alienate him.
