Off Season Lets Talk Guns

Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.

Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?

Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

I think I'm going to pick up a new gun tomorrow, I still have enough room for about two more in my safe. I think I'll fill it with a .17 and a 50 cal. I'll Likely look at the .17 tomorrow and the 50 in the spring. I also ordered 1000 more 5.56 rounds today. Time to get out there and do some shooting!

I have the Savage R-17 hmr with a target barrel, super accurate. It turns crows into a pile of feathers.

My cousin (big farmer) owns a Barrett 82 semi. It's pretty awesome, but he is stuck with shooting military ammo since he doesn't have the reloading equipment yet. He purchased the rifle over a year ago for under 8k and still kicks himself for not buying the other 2 available. The price has shot up since then.

The bolts are supposedly more accurate, so keep that in mind if you are looking for 1 mile + shots.

Oh, a fully loaded M82 mag carries around 1 POUND of lead. That's badass.

I can give you a review of my .338 Lupua Mag if I ever find powder. It's a nice round that is more accurate then the .50, but it isn't anywhere near the .50's "holy shit!" factor.

My personal choice would be the Desert Tactical setup.

Smaller, lighter, and it's has barrel and bolt kits in case you want to go CheyTac eventually.

Aint they 7 to 10 bucks per shot if you dnt reload. & ever if you do, I bet you dnt get more then 10 rounds out of a pound of powder.

Powder sits in the 200-250 grain range for .50's so you would get a little over 30 rounds.

My .338 takes a little under 90 grain powder for a 300 grain bullet. A normal 5.56 uses under 25 grain of powder and 9mm used 4-5.

If you do your own reloads the price per shot get a LOT cheaper, and they are much more accurate once dialed-in.

You can't go wrong with Glock. At that price point I prefer them over the Springers, but both are popular.

Some people prefer Gen 3 to Gen 4. Both the local shops still seem to have both in stock at any one time.

I had a G19 that was perfect, no malfunctions ever, even with the cheapest stuff I'd feed it. I have evolved to where I prefer 1911s though, so I don't have it any longer, but you're well armed with one.

Hmmm? That's a lot of jack, I'm going to have to look up my buddy that owns a gun shop and talk to him. No way in hell I'm dropping 5-8K on a gun. I can buy several nice guns for that kind of green and an extra gun safe.

If you are going big, GO BIG!

I though about getting a .50 upper until I came to the conclusion that I will end up driving myself crazy and purchasing the best anyway.

Why spend the money on settling when I can save it and get the ultimate.

Sorry, I am not a good influence on my friends.
