Rumor is that Paul Ryan may resign as U.S. House speaker, Scalise will replace him

Nevada's 2nd U.S. House District Rep. Mark Amodei, R-Carson City, said on Nevada Newsmakers Monday that Rep. Paul Ryan may soon resign as Speaker of the U.S. House.

Amodei said he was repeating a rumor that's around Capitol Hill.

"The rumor mill is that Paul Ryan is getting ready to resign in the next 30 to 60 days and that Steve Scalise will be the new Speaker," Amodei said.

Gosh let's hope so. So so so disappointed in him because I really thought he was a true conservative in the beginning but he ended up being a RINO sellout.

Paul Ryan did a great job for House Republicans and his even handed leadership and his work to decentralize authority in the House have been valuable contributions. Great job on tax reform and, with help from others, managing Donald Trump. Let's give him a big hand.

RINOs will be RINOs. He can't manage Trump and neither can any of the other RINOs. Why do you think he is really resigning ??

I think he's resigning because he doesn't want to be minority leader. He was never interested in being Speaker to begin with and minority leader would be all the parts of the job he wasn't interested in without the ability to produce much in terms of meaningful results.

I agree that Trump is difficult to manage, but I think McConnell, Ryan, and Kelly have done a pretty decent job of it so far when it comes to the domestic front. Trump seems to have shed the Mattis/Tillerson yoke on foreign policy now though.

As Trump becomes more confident in his job, I suspect he'll be harder to manage in all respects.

Maybe this is the start of the GOP trying to move away from Trump.

Paul Ryan has always been a secret Democrat whose job it was to be a weak but credible foil to Democrat ambitions.

Another rumor is that the Freedom Caucus is coming after him hard and heavy over the Omnibus.

Omnibus fail. Obamacare repeal fail. You're just happy you got more weapons to murder people who aren't a threat.

I’m happy about the weapons, but they’re for peace, not murder. I don’t blame Ryan for those other things.
