Seems the track move is becoming closer to official. Will miss the historic significance of the Kansas Relays at Memorial but seems the population growth and other factors are forcing the move.

Yea, it will be different not to have the Relays in Memorial but times change and this is a good thing. I think with the seating you'll add you're going to get to about 60,000 capacity which is plenty enough. The trend is moving to smaller capacity stadiums anyway so it's going to work out well for KU. Bring the seats a bit closer yet keep the intimate vibe and Hill in play.

Another thing I'd like to see done is a better fence between the field and the Hill. You could easily build some nice brick or ivy covered wall instead of metal. Should be a fun process when it begins.

KU has a lot to do before the track comes out. I would imagine that moving the stands closer to the field will require high $ engineering changes (sinking the field - and that's not an easy task in itself).

I imagine putting the fence up around the south end will be protested pretty heavily too. Lots of bums (me included) have watched the game for free from the hill for a long time. That's changed a little with the fairly new big board at that end. But you'll here some wailing over that if a real limestone wall goes up. But it's truly needed. You have to make those hill folks come inside and pay like everybody else.

Ever since they really turned the Hill into a pre game tailgating zone you've seen a real decrease in "bums" watching for free. There still is a problem of many people, close friends of mine included, who do technically have a ticket that they've paid for but still choose to sit on the Hill and watch simply because they can drink. But in the end with the addition of the scoreboard it really is a poor seat. I say put the fence up and force 'em inside.

People adapt to this kinda stuff very quickly. Similar to what they did to the rooftop situation at Wrigley.
