I am kind of curious on what is going on with the cook that Lydia came to Walt about. I am guessing it is Todd doing the cooking, but I am surprised it is going so badly. Walt wouldn't have tolerated Todd not understanding the process, and it looked like Todd isn't afraid of working hard, albeit illegally. So why is the purity down to 68% and falling?

I think Jesse wanted to walk away, and take his 5 mill with him. But then he started to see that Walt wasn't going to let him, and would hold the money over his head to keep him in so he dismissed it and walked out. Then Walt came back dangling the money in front of him again and it is just a noose around his neck that he can't get rid of.

well....that's as good an explanation as any I reckon...it still just ain't right. it's a flaw in the storyline and besides....I want Jessie to be what I want him to be!

Gale didn't sign his name to it. he said something like "to my other W.W. my other inspiration" or something like that.

It was just the catalyst to get things going. The handwriting matched on the book, and in the notebook, so that was the concrete connection that Walt somehow knew Gale when there is no reason that he would have ever known him otherwise. After that, all of the pieces started to fall in place like knowing Hank's cell to call about Marie, and crashing on the way to the laundromat, and the other things like knowing chemistry, and then finally the picture of Heisenberg.
