Even after his last two seasons, would you still trade Alex Smith for Phillip Rivers?

A buddy of mine and I at work were discussing this today. He says no way but I'd do it in a heartbeat. I cant stand the douche and he has been pretty bad lately but I still think Rivers has more potential to get us a playoff win than Alexis. And yes, Im that beat down as a Chiefs fan...all I want is one playoff win.

This is like your executioner on death row ask you if you would rather be executed by electric chair or injection. Same result but one is more missy than the other.

Doesn't he have a half a dozen kids. Between taking care of the kids and obviously taking care of his wife (hence all the kids) he's probably just tired.

I don't think Rivers ever reached the elite status so comparing him to the truly elites isn't really fair or necessary in relation to the question on whether you want Smith or Rivers.

Of course I would, if he checks out physically.

When he had a good LT in Marcus McNeil, a true #1 receiver in Jackson, a good running back or two (LT, Sproles and Turner) good tight ends and a formidable defense, that team was a contender every year.

I think this years Chiefs have a chance at having similar talent to those Charger teams, but I don't think Alex will attack the field like Rivers does.

Thinking back at all the talent those charger teams had that they let walk is just crazy.

Easily. Rivers isn't as good as he once was; but he's still a better QB than Alex Smith will ever hope to be.

Although Rivers is a ****ing crybaby douche with an awful throwing motion, he can still move an offense down the field.

Rivers actually has a lower int per game ratio (.83 ints per game and Alex has .84) and Rivers has MORE THAN TWICE AS MANY TDS (Alex has 81 career td passes, Rivers has 189).

The ONLY question is the current health state of the two players and Alex has a concussion history.

Rivers is also a serious, serious douchebag that waffles under pressure and throws temper tantrums.

Yep. Still going with Phil.

The point is that when he had those pieces around him, he delivered and lead his team to a lot of victories.

Phillip was drafted in 2004 and has 189 touchdown passes...Alex was drafted the following year and has 81.

The ONLY question is health.

If Alex Smith played with Ladanian Tomlinson, Vincent Jackson and Antonio Gates while in their prime, the statistics you stated would be relevant.

Alex Smith has never had such "pieces". He's also younger and not a raging douche nozzle.

Also, I'm confident that Alex Smith would have had more success in his career if he didn't have a small problem with sucking.
