He is afraid of QB's that can get the ball out quickly while throwing it deep and often. Like that QB that can throw 30 yards on a 3 step drop right?

Oh, I forgot his super great insight about picking on the rookie? Game changer. This guy should coach.

And then connecting our current situation to the 2010 Chiefs?

I do believe people were oversold on our D but I don't think we're that bad when healthy. Against the first Denver game, when everyone was healthy, we heald them to 27 points, their lowest scoring game of the season.

It's gonna be interesting to see how it all plays out. That's for sure.

I'm pulling for Alex to continue stepping up and for the defense to return to form.

Have you ever read those articles on Grantland where they try to write the worst sports article possible?

I never knew who they were making fun of. Now I know.

I have to agree. I'm sorry, but what "defining win" do you really want? Oh, we HAVE to beat so-and-so team to be considered a threat in the playoffs. This is the NFL, right? Any team can beat any other team on any given day?

We beat the Redskins. "Oh well they're a dumpster fire, no real team would lose to them"

The Chargers lost to the Redskins. "Well the Chargers obviously suck and will barely make the playoffs if anything."

The Chargers beat the Chiefs and the Broncos IN THEIR OWN HOMES. "Well then I guess we... suck?"

Wins are wins, no matter what team you play.

And every game is a learning process. Does losing a game seriously mean we're ****ed and there's no hope at all? No, you learn from your mistakes, you adapt, you go out there and play your best again. Are we so accustomed to losing being the equivalent of "we're exposed and there's no way of recovering"? This team is different and they aren't going to roll on their sides and die.

Here's how I see it...

2013 - 11-3 record.
QB play - 292 completions/480 attempts/3,160 yards/60.8%/23 TD's/6 INT's

2012 - 2-14 record.
QB play - QB #1 - 161 completions/277 attempts/1,796 yards/58.1%/6 TD's/12 INT's.
QB play - QB #2 - 112 completions/197 attempts/1,141 yards/56.9%/2 TD's/8 INT's.

2011 - 7-9 record.
QB play - QB #1 - 160 completions/269 attempts/1,713 yards/59.5%/10 TD's/9 INT's.
QB play - QB #2 - 80 completions/134 attempts/796 yards/59.7%/2 TD's/7 INT's.
QB play - QB #3 - 59 completions/97 attempts/779 yards/60.8%/1 TD/2 INT's.

I don't know about you, but I'd say QB play this year exceeded the last two years combined.

I definitely don't want to be known as the guy who's needlessly nasty about everything, i hope OTWP was able to see the humorous angle i was taking and not make it more than it was.

Or better yet:
2013 - 11-3 record.
QB play - 292 completions/480 attempts/3,160 yards/60.8%/23 TD's/6 INT's

2012 - 2-14 record.
QB play - 273 completions/473 attempts/2,937 yards/57.9%/8 TD's/20 INT's.

Yards, % comp are pretty similar. The biggest difference is basically picks. Not turning the ball over is valuable.

The other side is comprised of people that came here for the SOLE PURPOSE of telling us how lucky we are for having Alex Smith. They proceed to tell everybody here how to treat said Alex Smith and how we have to think of him exactly the way they do or we're not good fans.

The reality is that the VAST MAJORITY of people here don't hate Alex Smith. In fact, even the majority of people that hated the trade like him now. You know why? Because he's gotten A LOT better. A LOT.

And yet, here are the Smith fans, continuing to harp on us being bad fans because we aren't willing to put a crown on him.

Only one side is out of line here.
I feel constrained to say, that that is a vastly skewed sense of the 'sides' at issue.

I too root for the team, only I am infinitely more patient and confident regarding Alex's role in the team.

To my view, there is a lot larger contingent than you suggest that have been consistently and incessantly miserable that this team has not been an arena ball gun-slinging choco-penis swinging circus regardless of how well the team overall fared. Control the lines, do your job TO A MAN, and be clutch when clutch is what is required is what I expect, and this team has excelled in these aims for much of the season. When the offense was in disarrary there were numerous reasons, but they never cost us the W. When the defense was in disarray is bit us hard and decisively, costing us the W thrice consecutively. The offense have improved week by week, the defense has righted itself of recent, and the future remains unwritten.

Through it all, I have never gotten the sense that some have cemented from the instant he was signed, . . . that Alex Smith will prove our inescapable doom. To the contrary, I remain optimistic, that is specifically presently unproven but worthy of hopeful expectation, that he will prove himself as solid as we've ever the right to expect.

The first post I posted here the moment after Roaf retired was probably the most morose post I ever posted here.

I was pissed about Cassel for a hot minute after we signed him to 60 ****ING MILLION DOLLARS, by mid-season it was just clown shoes and embarrassed grins. Might as well have been watching Curly spin around on his side going Nyuck Nyuck Nyuck with calliope music playing in the background.
