Barber out?

For the second time this season, I've seen a rumor about Shawn Barbers' knee being much worse than reported. This rumor stems (this time) from Profootball Talk, so I'm not sure whether or not to believe it. They said that he would most likely be a June 1 cut. Thoughts or opinions?

Keeping Barber on the active roster all year to only be able to play a game or 2 like Wilson last year ?

Leaves developing talent / or players off the roster.

Hopefully we won't take any chances.

Let's just do the injury settlement now and get it overwith.

I could actually see 5 vets getting cut June first or after.

Maz-That's a heck of a surgery to come back from, especially for a guy with no speed in the first place. I just don't see him being able to hold up injury wise as a special teamer either.

Barber- This knee injury sound similiar in ways to Green's. He ended up having to have a second operation ( heard this from one of the recent DV interviews) So did Boerigter but I think his was more of a swelling issue and they planned two seperate surgeries from the beginning, they wanted to do the ACL seperate. Plus the fact that Barber had a serious knee injury his last year in Washington. That's the reason he only had a one year deal in philly before he came here.

Morton- I think this one is obvious.

Either Woods or Wesley- My guess is Wesley makes it at FS, even though he seems to have the worse of the two attitude wise since Sammy Knight was signed. I think that was played out a little more than it should have been though. You would expect him to be pissed about it. Woods hiring a speed coach is encouraging. It might be an option if Wesley beats out Woods to keep Jerome for our nickel back. I just don't know how he would look there if he doesn't improve his speed. This could really be a good battle in TC(if it gets that far).
We can't afford both IMO.

Bartee- Until the Warfield suspended or not suspended saga is finalized, I would keep him around. It is Bartee and he does obviously suck, but he would be another guy with starting experience if Warfield does get suspended. If not I could see us releasing him to give him a shot to catch on with another team before camp. I'd like to give Battle another shot. His biggest problem is his immaturity. Maybe Surtain and Knight could rub off on him. I won't hold my breath though and would have stongly considered sending him to NFL Europe this spring. I think by the sounds of it Hodge may have a good shot at making the team. I hope Benny Sapp gets a good look as well and Bartee/Battle are not kept in his place on the roster just because they are bigger and draft picks. I could see DV wanted to bring him back on the practice squad and loosing him on the waiver wire.

I am not sold on geting rid of Bartee. He is horrible, and one of the top ten suckiest CB's in the league. That being said, Battle couldn't beat him out, Sapp couldn't beat him out, and McCleon is only one year older than the "aging CB" that struggled last year.

If Barber is healthy;
Him, DJ, and Bell would be as good as any linebacking core in the league. Throw in Fujitia as a backup, that is not bad at all.
