sorry to hear that you didn't like it..
wilco is definitely an acquired taste, as their music has gone all over the map from a genre perspective.. i thought the show was REALLY good...the newer stuff is pretty mellow, but still enjoyable... good spread of songs from all of the wilco albums; one of the reasons i like wilco live is that they don't feel the need to play their newest album in its entirety every night |

I'm not very in tune with them (read: I've heard of them but I haven't really listened to much of their music), but I recently heard a song I liked called "Kamera".

"I am trying to break your heart" is my favorite Wilco song. Anyone going to the Bright Eyes concert?

if you were someone just starting, i'd recommend Being There and Yankee Hotel Foxtrot..A Ghost is Born and Sky Blue Sky, their two most recent records are also pretty darn good Being There is full of strong songwriting with just a bit of alt-country, but they were starting to get a bit more experimental sonically Yankee Hotel Foxtrot is the full-on experimental record, full of noise, blips, bleeps, but it's very cohesive and melodic...there are no weak spots on that record heck, for that matter, i don't think there are really any wilco songs that i don't like...very few artists, IMO, can produce such consistently good material |

I loved Uncle Tupelo, and I still love Sonvolt, IMO Tweedy's best work was with Tupelo.

And cool that the show was good phisherman. Sky Blue Sky just hasn't grown on me. The direction they took with that album really surprised me, because they seemed to be getting more experimental when I saw them live with the additional of Nels Cline. Then they come out with what is basically a folk rock album in Sky Blue Sky. Anyway, they put on an awesome live show. I've got to go see them again soon.

i agree that Sky Blue Sky is a complete 180 from YHF and AGIB...
fortunately, they seem to be focusing on the strongest songs from SBS for their live show..side with the seeds is a BARNBURNER live, nels goes off... speaking of nels, after you heard yankee hotel foxtrot and a ghost is born, could they have any other guitarist that fits as well? nels take their music places that jay bennett never could've...not to take anything away from jay, he's a great musician, but he can't even hold nels' jock |
