Putting down the bottle.

How many of you have done this? I'm starting to notice a pattern of me screwing shit up in my life and there always seems to be something involved.

Alcohol

I love drinking

But I'm sick of screwing up relationships and generally being a dumbass.

How many of you have done this? I feel like it's time (at least for a while) to cut the booze out of my life.

Any advice on what to do other than spend my weekend wasted drunk?

Kudos to you for your persistence.

Good for you on acknowledging your problem and doing something about it. Just one little word of warning.. Don't forget to still address your addiction problem. The bottle is no longer in front of you, but your underlying addiction problem is still there. Be aware of that. Your problem is addiction, and it doesn't go away quickly. You've done the first step which is removing the thing that's been satisfying your addiction up to this point. But you're not done. The next step is properly acknowledging and dealing with the underlying addiction feeling itself, so that you don't simply fill that addictive need with something else that might be negative.

Good luck!

Eh, it's an easy trap to fall into. My friends and I partied hard in college and have sort of carried that over. I think KCUnited gives the best advice in this thread. If you start to watch what you eat and drink, you'll feel better about yourself in general and it's a hell of a lot easier to hold yourself accountable. Make a schedule. Hit the gym. Shit, play in basketball rec league on weekend nights if you have to. Give yourself some cheats. Whatever that may mean to you.

Seriously, what other things do you enjoy doing? Fishing, hunting, golfing, hiking, etc? Plan to do those things often and early in the morning.
