*.* 2013 General Fitness Thread *.*

Welcome to 2013! Now get your ass in top physical condition!

**From the 2012 Thread**

If you want to get back into lifting, or need a new lifting routine, START HERE:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wi...inner_Programs

If you have questions about the SS programs, look here:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ

Keep in mind that you're a novice lifter for a longer period of time than you think you are. Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started.

Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. Find it HERE:

http://madcow.hostzi.com/5x5_Program/Linear_5x5.htm

If you're a very advanced lifter (many, many years of CONSISTENT weight training), then there are lot of programs out there, and which one you pick is simply a matter of preference. If you're really that advanced, you should know what works for you and what doesn't by this point.

Whey is whey. If you like it, great, but there's nothing magical about it helping "body acid balance."

I wonder what you guys think of my current lifestyle:

Get obliterated drunk every night. Probably at least 20 beers.

Wake up...miserable. Go to work. Eat my one and only meal around 4 PM. Usually Jersey Mike's.

So literally I eat between 8-16" of sandwich once per day...and drink. I wonder how much long term damage I'm doing to myself?

we go to the same bar every Sunday for $1 beers during football season...$1 12 oz beers

we'd get our tab after the 3 PM games...

we'd ****ing just start laughing

one time we all got our tabs...mine had 14 $1 beers. My buddy Taylor had 12 $1 beers. My fatass friend Darren had 24 $1 beers. Twenty ****ing four. In 6 hours.

And we managed to get kicked out of trivia at the next bar. We went...were on a team...they'd ask a question (and everyone took it so serious) and we'd blurt out the most insane/ridiculous answer possible...

Guy comes over and looks at me and says "one more word and you're out..." He walks away and fatass says something under his breath and he turns around and is like "YOU'RE OUT OF HERE!" pointing at me...I'm like..."uhhhh" and fatass is like "haha that was me." And the guy was like, "fine, you're both out!" So we're getting escorted out and fatass gets the attention of all 100 people in the beer garden...literally...and shouts, "I'LL SUCK ALL YOUR DICKS!" It was great.

And then we went to the next bar and pounded about 15 contusions (tequilla soaked in pineapple)...

and by this time I'm gone

but apparently I did something SO APPAULING that when I try and step foot in this bar, to this day, they don't let me in...

Literally. I moved to Dallas. Came back for Christmas 6 months later...thought..."no way they remember me."

Ordered 3 beers. Dude sees me and like SPRINTS at me and was like "you know you can't come in here!"

I was like oooook. Relax.

None of us remember what I did. But I assume it was rape.

Seriously. Getting drunk like that without eating has to be hell on your liver.

I went to the club last weekend. Pounded down 4 Bud Plattys, 3 loaded Coronas, and apparently an unknown number of shots (my bartender friend told me the next day she gave me shots that I don't remember) from 11:30 to 1:30 and blacked out from about 2:30 to 4:30. I've never been a big drinker though.

Actually, in light of several of my friends and acquaintances getting DUIs recently, I've basically reduced my alcohol consumption to zero. If I do drink at all, it's usually never more than 1 or 2 since I'm always driving.

Honestly, I'd really like to cut out alcohol, soda and fast food from my diet completely. I only use the three in extreeeeme moderation as it is anyway, but I always just feel like I should be able to kick them completely since I hardly ever use them.

It's tough though.

I haven't, and don't want to, kick out soda, alcohol, fast food, cookies, cake or anything else that I enjoy. That's not living.

Fortunately, you don't have to in order to live a healthy life and stay lean.
