Android Gbox Midnight MX2

Been eyeing this for awhile now.

Besides the different remote, can somebody tell me what the difference is between these two options?

$97
G-Box Midnight MX2 Android 4.2 Jelly Bean Dual Core XBMC Streaming Mini HTPC TV Box Player
http://www.amazon.com/G-Box-Midnight...s=midnight+mx2

$104
Matricom G-Box MX2 Dual Core XBMC Android 4.2 TV Box + Special Edition XBMC [NEWEST VERSION]
http://www.amazon.com/Matricom-G-Box...s=midnight+mx2

The cheaper one seems to be the older one but I really don't see the difference specs wise other than the keyboard remote.

Go back to the SSH server config in Android.
Redo the User part. Make sure to set the password, and back out so that you're prompted to save the info. For my Android phone I hit the Back button, not sure what it would be for yours. But make sure it saves.

I have done that several times already. for some reason winscp just plain won't let me access it. This is just bizarre.

What is really odd is that I can put in any username on winscp and it still tries to login without saying it is the incorrect username.

Well then I don't know. I just tested my instructions with my own PC/WinSCP and Android 4.1. It works for me. For username I set a name, enabled password, set password, and didn't touch any other settings.

In WinSCP are you selecting SFTP protocol? Android's IP address for Host name? Port number from SSH Server? Mine is port 52657.

Try leaving user name and/or password blank in WinSCP when trying to connect. It should prompt you if you do that.

You'd have to check, but you should be able to find USB Bluetooth dongles compatible with Android.

the only thing I was going to use it for was attaching a pS3 controller to it for some emulator games. I'll live.

Like I said, as far as plug and play? Ouya for $99 and install SPMC.
I'd been leaning towards the GBox but think I'll try Ouya instead. Apparently in benchmark testing it's about 50% more powerful and plays 1080p.

The only thing I didn't like about Ouya is the fact there is only one USB port where as the Gbox has 4. I've also read complaints that 1080p content tends to bog it down to where it is unwatchable. Might just be a few users but that is a complaint out there.

the USB thing is a huge issue for me because I prefer to use a keyboard with my gbox. With Ouya I would have to choose between a keyboard or external USB drive. Not an issue on the gbox.

Obviously I have the Gbox, but can the Ouya not handle a USB splitter/hub in order to manage more than one USB? Or is the hardware incapable of that in the same way a true PC/Mac can?

I do realize that a hub sitting next to the box would kind of kill the form factor, but I'm just curious if it's possible with these boxes.

From a quick search, it appears that Ouya does support a USB hub. But I'm not sure if the HUB has to be self-powered or not. In addition, you can only add one HD via USB when using a HUB. If you plug in two HDs, one of them won't be visible.

My understanding is that for 1080p, it's best to use ethernet rather than wireless. At any rate, my TV is only 720p, so it's moot for now.

It would sit in my cabinet, so that wouldn't be a huge issue.
