I Need Beer!

I'm supposed to acquire the beer for a party this weekend. Probably need one, maybe two kegs. Anybody got a connection in KC -anywhere from Johnson County to Independence-who would treat me right and make me a good deal?

Do you hate everybody coming to this party? Why would you subject them to the horrors of keg beer?

BYOB unless you want to be liable for everyone getting home

IF I HAVE A HOUSE PARTY, AM I LIABLE IF A GUEST LEAVES THE PARTY AFTER DRINKING AND HURTS SOMEBODY?

This area of the law is known as social host liability. The key in any analysis of social host liability is who controls the alcohol. A host has a duty not to provide alcohol and/or serve alcohol to an intoxicated person.
The Courts have only imposed a duty on social hosts where they have either provided or served alcohol to an intoxicated guest. The reasoning behind this is that if the host provides or serves the alcohol, they can "shut off" the guest just like a bar whereas if the guest provides his own alcohol, the host has no control over the alcohol or its consumption and an attempt to exercise control could lead to physical confrontations.
A brief lesson to be learned in the law of social host liability is that hosts of parties should always advertise parties as "BYOB" (Bring Your Own Booze) in order to shield themselves from liability.
The issue as to a social host's duty to minors is the same as in the case of adults. The issue remains who supplies and controls the alcohol. If the host does not supply or control, there is no liability even to minors.
The duty is greater for restaurants and bars because they have the control over the alcohol and have a duty to ensure that patrons are not intoxicated.

Let me know when you find a place-I will gladly go pick up the kegs and then make sure the taps work for you.

btw the other two times I did this didn't end to well, but maybe 3rd times the charm.

We'll I'm not too worried about people "over-serving" themselves. This is in a church reception hall, with adults all 40-60 years old. It's not like a frat house kegger.

The only one being over-served will probably be me, since I'll have to finish any leftover beer.

Interesting chasing this stuff down.
Boulevard Wheat in a 16 gallon keg runs between $140 and $150/keg, that's about $9 per gallon. Boulevard Tank 7 Farmhouse ale, their signature craft beer is $90 for a 5-gallon keg, or $18 for a gallon. Could it be twice as good for twice the price? Basic Coors Light (which the women all want to drink) is about $8/gallon for an 8-gallon keg. I hate Coors Light and I hate Bud Light too. But women won't drink Boulevard Wheat.

The Tank 7 is definitely worth the price bump if they enjoy quality beer. The fact that they're asking for Coors light tells me they know nothing about quality beer. Just buy them the cheap swill and be done with it.

I always thought keg beer was much better than canned or bottled beer. I am not a beer drinker though.
What is the horror that comes with keg beer?
