Off Season Lets Talk Guns

Been a while since we had a guns n' ammo discussion.

Some of you are AR shooters Im sure. Im looking at a Colt 6920. Will be my first AR. Picked up a Glock this fall and really enjoy shooting it. Any feedback on that weapon?

Anyone else been in a buy/sell/trade mood with hardware?

The PT101 has an aluminum frame. Taurus anodizes theirs to help with durability. However, as is often the case with anodized products, it creates a rainbow 'sheen' when the light hits it.

My thought is to hit the frame with some aluminum polish to take the anodization off it and then hit it with a satin duracoat so the frame matches the slide.

Thoughts? Any reason why this would make the gun dangerous/unreliable?
Well anodizing is basically aluminum's layer of rust, their are multiple levels of anodizing each with different durabilities. Generally the fancy colors are less durable then blackish/purple (If I understand correctly), you can probably duracoat over the anodizing and be happy and then still have the annodizing if you change your mind. I've never used duracoat but I have rattlecanned over anodizing. As long as you spray the aluminum afterwords, it probably won't be harmful.

I am really disliking everybody who is jacking up prices. Hopefully it settles down.

I like to practice for work purposes and won't be able to afford or find ammo. It's kind of important to practice in my profession.

It will if no ban happens, write/call/email your representatives, if no ban happens the market will get flooded with cheap ARs and AKs. Ammo not-so-much, maybe but unlikely.

What are your thoughts on this shotgun? I've always been a Remington guy, it's a family thing.
870 is a good shotgun. It is Remington's best selling gun by a huge margin and there is a good reason why.

It's good to see these jackasses buy AR's or ammo, turn around, and sell it online for twice as much. Good job, some of us non greedy people, can only afford store prices. Nice to see price gouging. If you don't need the gun or ammo than let other people buy it in store.

If people weren't so dumb and waited, people would have to quit trying to rip people off. end rant.

They are going to lose their ass in the end. AR's will still be around.

I don't see that happening, depending on what happens, or how long they want to hang onto them. If you think this "issue" isn't ever going to come up again, no matter how the latest gun grab talk goes, I think you are in for a surprise.

I do agree with the high cap mags and do think they may limit the purchase of ammo at some point, but I don't think they will get that done right away. I guess time will tell on all of it.

I shouldn't have said,"Lose their ass", more likly they will "break even".

AR's were here during the Clinton ban, and they will be around after this.

I would guess you are right, at least for now, but a few more nut jobs lighting public places up in the near future could aslo change that IMHO.

Has anyone here ever assembled an upper from a stripped upper receiver? I picked up a stripped upper today, and I can't find a great guide that outlines exactly what parts I need to pick up to assemble it. Anyone have any recommendations of somewhere that lists exactly what I need to pick up to build this out? I assembled a lower with a parts kit, but I'm not finding anything like that for the upper.
