Chiefs have the #1 scoring defense in football after 5 weeks

We are only allowing 11.6 points per game...even more impressive is that the second place team is NE at 14 ppg. That's a sizable lead.

Some other rankings after 5 weeks...

1st in sacks
1st in passes defensed
1st in defensive touchdowns
1st in recovered fumbles
3rd in interceptions
7th in yards allowed per game
4th in pass yards allowed per game
21st in rush yards allowed per game (Philly game skewed this one)

Translation: the defense is killin it

3 iirc.

And again, he's accounted for 11 plays of 25+ yards. Does it matter how they occurred?

We're discussing Alex Smith's abilities.

He lacks the ability to complete passes down the field.

That is why our offense is suffering and Bowe's numbers are down.

He completed TWO over 20 yards in the Titans game to Avery.

The offense is 25th in third down conversions.

I can deal with a lackluster efficient offense, but it's going to have to be better on third down if they're going to keep this up. The offense will need to sustain drives and eat clock to have any hope of beating Denver. I tend of think part of the problem is the rate at which we pass on 3rd and short.

So you're saying he doesn't have the arm strength to complete passes down the field?

And again, he's got 4 plays fewer than the leaders in completions that went over 25 yards. Why does it matter if he throws it 17 yards and it goes for 50 vs 50 in the air?

Those 5-yard passes that went for mad YAC aren't sustainable in the long term.

Most NFL defenses aren't that shitty.

Alex needs to go 20+ more, or we will suffer. We are suffering now. 20 ppg? 25th on third down?

what is the average for that?

33 percent doesn't seem that poor for passes of that nature.

It's not about arm strength, it's about balls.

It matters because of how many things a defense has to prepare for dictates how aggressive you can be as a playcaller.
