Welp...Laid Off Today
joy.
the project I've been working on for the past 2 years is winding down, and the client wanted us to reduce head-count. So, myself and three others were let go today.

Damnit!!
Though, my boss told me to update my resume and send it to him. he knows a good friend of him who is Director level that is looking for people. I believe him, and don't think he's blowing smoke up my butt. I've either worked with him/for him or been in contact with him over the course of projects since 2002.

So, we'll see about that. Another young guy at work, texted me and let me know his dad is a manager at his company so I'll get my resume in his hands as well.

I hope I find something soon. My wife took a huge pay-cut last year (around35%) because her job at the time was causing exacerbations with her MS due to stress.

hopefully I won't have to dole out handy's behind the 7-11 for cash.

pretty much set in the lenexa/ish area for now.

I thought it went well. we spoke for a good hour. Small company who is just adding a new business model to their resume. They said that, essentially, the people who are managing it now don't have nearly the experience they need at the moment during this critical phase. they went from about 35 employees last year to now at about 100. I'm a 100% for this gig. I brought in old construction drawings of some of our tower build outs, contacts, scopes of works, bidding, scheduling etc.

The lady stopped taking notes of my responses after about 10 minutes.....so, I hope that's a good thing lol. As we wrapped it up, she asked if the HR lady had discussed compensation etc - which she had not. so, we discussed it right then and there. I knew what responsibilities were with such a job, so I told them where I wanted to be. She didn't seem to flinch and said "That's certainly reasonable".

Then as we were standing to leave her office she said something to the effect of "well, thanks for meeting with me. I think you'll be hearing from us very soon".

I applied online for the job, and got the interview request the next day. So, they must have liked something. I applied for it even though the description said "4 Yr Degree Required". **** that....this job is my background to a "T" + 14yrs experience...I'm applying anyway lol.

I had a similar commute when I lived in Peculiar, MO and worked in Lenexa. about 35 miles each way. This place is about 5 miles north of Strouds.

Not a bad drive. Though, on the way home I hit SW Blvd/Johson Drive etc south bound at 4 and it was damn slow. So, I have no idea how bad that shit will be during peak rush hour.
