Sandbox football is gearing up - room for new owners.

Hi all,

For those of you who haven't participated, our Sandbox Simulations football game had a good initial test, and we're gearing up for Season Two now. We have some openings for new team owners, and the current leagues will be free forever since we're still beta testing.

The league works like this:

1. You get a team. Since we're in Season Two, you will be hired to run an existing team as coach/owner.
2. The teams currently have their end of year rosters from 2011, so you'll be able to do a fair bit of rebuilding. We'll hold the 2012 rookie draft and a veteran free agent acquisition, and then we'll conduct a season. You'll build a full 53-man roster.
3. The seasons are just like NFL football. You'll develop a general offensive and defensive philosophy and game plan for your team, and you'll deal with lineup shuffles as players get injured. Each week you'll get a play by play to see how your team fared.
4. The season is played on an accelerated basis so we should be done with it before the real NFL training camp starts. At that point we'll hold a 2013 rookie draft, and you'll be able to pick up veteran free agents over the course of the real NFL season.
5. Repeat as desired.

It's quite fun, actually, and the game engine works superbly. It's quite enjoyable to pull up the play by play and watch the game unfold, and to grumble as you have to shuffle lineups when injuries occur.

We'll be going commercial with the game at some point soon, but the two beta leagues will always be free. You'll be like George Halas with the Bears - at some point these franchises will be worth hundreds of millions of dollars.*

So if you're interested, let me know here and I'll assign you to a team. As with the real NFL, you don't have control over the team you inherit, so your challenge may be maintaining a powerhouse or more likely rebuilding a team that was managed poorly - you know, like the Chiefs.

* - Financial performance not guaranteed.

Here's the thread that started it all: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showthread.php?t=248221

If you want to play,

Those who want to play need to:

1. Post in this thread and we'll confirm whether a team is currently available.
2. Register on http://sandboxsimulations.com using the access code: 6Lanier3
3. Follow the registration procedure until you get to the screen where you select your team name. STOP HERE WITHOUT PICKING A TEAM NAME.
4. Once Rain Man assigns you a team, and you have completed through step 3, PM cdcox or post in this thread and cdcox will connect the existing team with your user account
.

Final call for the following teams. If you do not confirm your participation, your team is at risk of being reassigned:

League 1

Anchorage Roadkill - lostcause
Dallas K-Swiss Tubes - kstater
Fort Wayne Dukes - davidmu
Overland Park Chiefs - King of the Cassel
Ventura Highways - Rockchalk

League 2
Little Rock Nine - kstater
Oklahoma City Outlaws - jreid18
Pompano Beach Pandas - ozona
Rancho Cucamonga Redrage - dtforever
Seattle Undertakers - Andchiefs
Waco Compound Fires - sully

Some of these folks either had e-mail bounces or the don't accept pm's or we otherwise had trouble contacting them. So if you know any of these folks, send them here pronto or Ray Farmer may be talking to them.

Let's go with League 1's Dallas K-Swiss Tubes. They went 7-9 this year, but are poised for success with stars like Clay Matthews and Patrick Peterson. And uh, starting halfback Brandon Jacobs. Halfback might be a draft priority for you.

You can assign the Los Angeles Knights in league 2 to someone. With the coding issues I don't have time to properly manage two teams.

Looking over the Topeka Tyrannicide, and have started having Ray Farmer's distant cousin go to rip the playbook out of the hands of some guys that have been retired for a good while now.

Just to make sure, that is something we should be doing right? Releasing players that obviously won't be playing? (Ray's cousin had to visit the graveyard for Belcher's playbook). Wasn't sure on roster size limits and salaries and all that.

Lostcause has sent a PM or two my way over trade discussions that never really materialized. I assume he'll want to stick around.

Cool, thanks. He seems a likely carryover, but I just haven't heard from him.

I'm a little more worried about some guys whose e-mails bounced that I can't reach, guys like jreid18 and ozona and davidmu. I'm not sure what else to do, though.

Yeah, it's certainly fine to do that. It'll give you a more clear picture of draft needs, and if they're not playing, they're not playing.

Remember, though, that we're playing the 2012 season so if they played last year they're still active in this game.

cdcox may be able to help you out if you accidentally screwed yourself. It's the first time we've done this process.

I think I am ok. Belcher is the only one of the ones I released that played, and I have a bad feeling for his year in 2012.

Your public relations office will praise you for this offseason move in a few months.

Trade offer sent.

As an FYI to all new owners, your players' injuries in 2012 correlate perfectly to their injuries in this game. So if a player missed Week X last year, they will miss Week X in this game. Remember that as you think about your rosters.

In my case, for example, Ray Lewis went down with an injury and missed ten weeks of the season. He will miss those same ten weeks for me.
