I probably don't qualify since I readily jump ship to whatever the best OS is at any given time... I still think WebOS is a great OS but just can't keep up with the Google machine.

So I got a iPad2. I was really surprised at the difference in thickness, once I had the iPad and iPad2 side by side.

Does that impact how much you like it in one way or another? (genuine question)

As someone who doesn't own a tablet, it doesn't seem like I'd care that much about .5" vs .3", but I'm curious to know if there's some clear advantage there.

No, not really. I wouldn't call it a big deciding factor or anything. It just surprised me how much of a difference there was. It is nice that the iPad2 will sit flat on a flat surface. The iPad is slightly rounded on the bottom, so it's wobbly on a flat surface. The iPad2 is completely flat on the bottom.

The "flap" piece is actually a nice addition, despite how damn ugly it is. It's quite functional. And the proximity sensor detects when the flap is closed on the front, and puts the device to sleep. Kinda handy, and somewhat eliminates the lock screen when the flap is on it.

While you can dislike Apple or debate their merits, what has apple released in the last 6 years that comes remotely close to a 'turd'?

Biggest thing about this size diff is that the iPad 2 feels almost weightless when you pick it up. Like, you think it should be heavier than it is, and almost bring it up too fast. It also leads to some babying of the machine; though that could just be me, I'm really anal about shit like that.

Having had mine for a little over a week now, I absolutely love it. The worst part of the whole experience thus far has been the application of a screen protector, since apparently those things are my kryptonite

Just picked one up. The ObamaPacman Target inventory finder really works.

Story:

The Target store in question is 35 minutes away. So I call over, and the guy in electronics tells me that yes, they have a 32GB WiFi in stock. He can't hold it for me, and he won't let me give him a CC number to buy it in advance. So I get in the car and head over, hoping it's still there when I get there.

So I get to Target, head back to Electronics, and as I get there, I see a young-ish couple at the register, and the woman is crying. I overhear the cashier say, "I'm sorry, but I can't hold it for you. Try to clear things up with your bank and if it's still here, it's yours. Otherwise, I have to sell it if someone wants it."

It never even crossed my mind....

Sure enough, he finishes with them, and I ask, "I called earlier about the 32GB WiFi iPad2. Do you still have it?"

The woman's boyfriend/husband/whatever says, "we just bought it."

The Target cashier says, "yep, we sure do."

The woman starts crying harder, and thankfully, the Target cashier got me in and out of there in no time.

Right place, right time.
