*.* 2013 General Fitness Thread *.*

Welcome to 2013! Now get your ass in top physical condition!

**From the 2012 Thread**

If you want to get back into lifting, or need a new lifting routine, START HERE:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wi...inner_Programs

If you have questions about the SS programs, look here:

http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/FAQ

Keep in mind that you're a novice lifter for a longer period of time than you think you are. Novice lifting can last anywhere from a few months to a year or two, depending on how hard you hit the weights and where you started.

Once you've reached the point where you don't make regular progress on the SS program, you are ready to move on to the intermediate stage, which can last you for a good number of years. Find it HERE:

http://madcow.hostzi.com/5x5_Program/Linear_5x5.htm

If you're a very advanced lifter (many, many years of CONSISTENT weight training), then there are lot of programs out there, and which one you pick is simply a matter of preference. If you're really that advanced, you should know what works for you and what doesn't by this point.

Six sets of six on the bench this morning at 235lbs. Next week the fun begins. Weights move up, sets and reps move down. Finally getting to the meat of the Russian bench program.

I'll confess that I often fast on Fridays intentionally because that first happy hour drink or two really hits the spot on an empty stomach.

Then I eat, of course.

I haven't had soda or fast food in years. (With the occasional exception of a Jimmy John's lettuce wrap when I'm in a big hurry) I really don't feel like I'm missing out on "living" at all. It was much easier than I imagined it would be. Neither soda nor fast food sound the least bit appealing to me anymore.

I do like to have a few beers, though. I realize I could probably shed another 5 lbs or so if I gave that up, but I enjoy it & I'm more into enjoying life than getting on the cover of Men's Health.

Additionally I went to Tony and Guy and bought this super cool 'wet look' hair gel. I've got a fantastic hair cut currently.

PM'ing.

Man I want a prowler but don't know where I would use it so the chute seems easier for a similar type of cardio.

I have the Econo Model. It breaks down into 3 pieces so you can pretty much store it anywhere. I push it in my townhouse complex parking lot, usually at night when its cooler. Its not TOO loud on blacktop lol. Other thing you can try lew is a weighted x-vest. You can grab a 60lb one off amazon for around $80, Im sure that would kick your ass both sprinting and walking.

I drink an unhealthy amount, hell I brew my own beer and have 10 gal on tap right now. I work out an exercise partially to offset some of my vices.

That being said your 2 posts dont exactly agree with each other.

This the one? I need something that breaks down because I have to hall it down to the park to do it on grass since I live in a community with an HOA and I doubt the noise would fly! And I have a small two door coupe with a hatchback to get it down there.

Good suggestions so far. Thanks!

I agree with you guys here. I'm not a fitness model by any means; I just feel like the shit is not good for you at all. Right now I'm at the point where I probably drink an amount of soda equivalent to one of those 16 oz throw-away bottles throughout the entire week. Fast food is something I do on a drunken night once a month, maybe. I feel like, at that rate, I could just cut them out of my life completely and hardly even notice a difference..

Alcohol would be a much different story though.

Yeah, that night was pretty uncharacteristic for me lately. I had a huge argument with the girl the night before and just wanted to get pissy drunk.. so I did.

My drinking habits have changed big time, though. A year ago, that would have been a normal Saturday night and I would have driven home like a dumbass. Lately I've been trying to be more responsible and I think I'm doing a pretty good job.
