If the Democrats win the senate...

Imagine this scenario:

Dems win the senate (not super likely, around a 30% chance)
Kavanaugh goes down (also probably around a 30% chance)

and they get control of the Senate with an open supreme court seat.

Then they say either:

a) We'll only confirm garland or
b) We'll only confirm someone to the left of garland

I'm sure everyone here would just "oh sure, fair's fair. That's within the rules of the senate." Right?

Much like Clay, I've been slow to dump my CPU (left/right mindset. )

And much like Clay I've been playing catch up for years.

It's hard to explain politics to a normal, emotionally healthy, person.

"So, Imagine everything that motivates you was twisted and used against you."

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

I believe the twisting of traditional meanings of the language for political purposes has been happening since the 1870's. I believe Lewis Carroll's Humpty Dumpty was addressing that issue when he wrote this in "Through the Looking Glass":

"When I use a word," Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, "it means just what I choose it to mean—neither more nor less." "The question is," said Alice, "whether you can make words mean so many different things." "The question is," said Humpty Dumpty, "which is to be master—that's all."

Humpty Dumpty is the role model for politicians, academics, jurists, and journalists for the last 1.5 centuries, imo.

Twisting of the language is not new. What the modern left has done is to implement it as a standard element of the playbook.

I wouldn't put a fork in her just yet. She's got a lot of support around Bismarck and Fargo. I just know that I'm ready for this campaign to be over. Every day we get swamped with political flyers from both sides of the aisle that gets delivered to every mailbox.

Way to go, Arizona Democrats!

Quote:
Emails from June 2002 and obtained by the Washington Examiner give insight into Sinema's work as a community organizer for the Arizona Alliance for Peaceful Justice. The group, she wrote at the time, “opposed the use of violence and weapons in all situations” and “believes in world disarmament.” For all those high-minded ideals though, Sinema wasn’t ready to force her beliefs on anarchists.

“When AAPJ attended May Day (sponsored by the Phoenix Anarchist Coalition), we knew that their guidelines differ from ours,” Sinema emailed a fellow protester. “They are okay with weapons and property destruction in some instances, and so those of us who chose to attend the event knew that it would be inappropriate to ask someone to not destroy property or to carry a weapon.

Quote:
“By force?” Hancock asked. “By me, as an individual, if I want to go fight in the Taliban army, I go over there and I’m fighting for the Taliban. I’m saying that’s a personal decision…”

“Fine,” Sinema interjected, “I don’t care if you want to do that, go ahead.”

Nice choice you made there.

Maybe the deficit won't balloon quite so much without full-blown R govt spending like drunken sailors and writing blank checks to all their donors. It's 2006 all over again.

Remember when the right actually cared about the debt and deficit? Seems like that came to an abrupt halt about 2 years ago - hmmm - what happened?

But yeah - as long as you get those sweet sweet libtard tears - who cares if the country is financially ****ed? Just gimme those tears.

Yes I imagine you guys are deluged. Here in PHX we have a constant barrage of McSally/Sinema commercial warfare and I'm guessing yours is several degrees above that.

Libtard tears are saving the country. It's a cleansing.

P.S. The deficit in FY 2008, the last full year of the Bush presidency, was lower than the deficit in FY2016, the last full year of the Obama presidency.

I'm old enough to remember when the Tea Party was up in arms about this. It's almost like... it wasn't really about fiscal responsibility at all? SHOCKED

Or is WSJ fake news now? I lose track.

But yeah - you still get libtard tears - so well played.

You're old enough to have a woman, a kid, a career, a home of your own, and to honor your wagers. None of those happened either.

Odds of Dems winning the Senate looks to match the amount of Indian Liz Warren is.
