Movies

Yeah, so I saw a lot of movies this weekend.

Elizabeth: The Golden Age - Mediocre, at best. Slow and dragged on. Shorten it to 2 hours and it's golden. It's not, so it fails.

Michael Clayton - Amazing. Everything about it is awesome. However, it's VERY complex and mind bending. You have to think, so be prepared. I still feel like I'm missing key details of exactly what happened. Gotta see it again.

Across the Universe - Perfect is one word that comes to mind. It just works. And, contrary to many people I bet, the movie is best viewed sober. Trust me.

Gonna watch that corn movie tonight.

I'm fascinated by food documentaries. I'd like to see one about the European food industry. I'm sure it's even worse than America.

Me too, I haven't seen food inc but want to. I had heard how corn was in everything but had no idea the actual extent of it.

In France the food industry is very organic in the countryside. For instance most of the cheese/wine/pork/escargot production is made loacally. They have local farmers that supply the local grocery stores/restaraunts.

The corn movie was really, really boring. Only mildly interesting. It WAS interesting seeing how corn farmers would be ****ed if the Government didn't put them over the profit line, and it was also interesting seeing how corn is not even edible until it's been processed. That's actually kind of revolting. We're growing billions and billions of ears of corn in this country and it's not even edible right out of the ground.

I did enjoy them invading the old man's privacy at the end.

Well, that industrial corn is like that. There are plenty of varieties of corn grown that taste delicious right out of the ground.

It's called Field corn.

What you're thinking of is sweet corn that you get on the ear at the store. Farm grown sweet corn is ****ing amazing. I flat out can't eat it.

Buy why can't you eat field corn? I have. I don't eat a lot, but it is definitely edible off the combine.

Plus, you can take field corn in the hard dough stage and roast it like sweet corn and eat it too.

I'm going to have to watch this corn movie. It sounds like it is full of shit.

You're posting from too general a level. There's an awful lot more biodiversity amongst corn than just "sweet" and "field" and "flint." Certain strains of field corn have been bred over the years to garner as much yield as possible, but with that comes a loss in flavor and sugars. Not all field corn is of the same quality. A lot of it these days is grown simply to pound down the throats of cattle and such. Hence my use of the term "industrial corn," because all its good for is to propagate the food industry.

I recognize that, but fail to see your point. I probably just need to watch the movie.

Sequence of posts:

GoChiefs remarks about how there's a lot of corn grown in this country that's inedible w/o processing.

I reply that there's plenty of edible corn still being grown

Your reply to me, and your rhetoric suggests disapproval of my post, a sense of "you don't know what you're talking about, Reaper."

So if my last post had a point it was to try and reclaim some ethos.

The Ghost Writer has one of the best endings to a film I've seen in awhile.

Awesome.
