May 22, 1985 Royals vs Cardinals Softball game at the K

KANSAS CITY -- The Kansas City Royals will partner with Farmland Foods and Willie Wilson Baseball to host the '85 Classic on Saturday, May 22.
In conjunction with the club's 25th anniversary celebration of the 1985 World Series victory, the Classic will feature Royals greats from the 1985 club versus members of the 1985 National League Champion St. Louis Cardinals in an exhibition softball game.

The event is set to begin at 1:00 p.m. prior to the Royals-Colorado Rockies Interleague matchup at 3:10 p.m. Gates to Kauffman Stadium will open at noon.

Royals Hall of Fame outfielder Willie Wilson is set to be joined by teammates Buddy Biancalana, Dane Iorg, Danny Jackson, Lynn Jones, Dennis Leonard, Hal McRae, Darryl Motley, Jorge Orta, Greg Pryor, Jim Sundberg, John Wathan and Frank White.

The St. Louis Cardinals roster includes Bill Campbell, Jack Clark, Ken Dayley, Curt Ford, Kurt Kepshire, Jeff Lahti, Tito Landrum and John Tudor.

Players from both teams will open the festivities by attending a private reception presented by Commerce Bank on Friday, May 21.

During both games on May 22, the Royals will host a silent auction featuring unique memorabilia, including the jerseys worn by the Royals and Cardinals during the '85 Classic.

In addition, the club is currently hosting a pre-event online auction in which fans may bid on the opportunity to serve as bat boys or the honorary first and third base coaches for the Classic. The online auction is open until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 16. Proceeds from both the online and silent auctions will benefit Royals Charities.

A ticket to the Royals-Rockies game on May 22 is required for admittance to the '85 Classic. Fans may purchase tickets online at royals.com, by calling 1-800-6ROYALS, at area Hy-Vee stores or at the Kauffman Stadium Box Office.

For more information on the '85 Classic, fans may visit www.royals.com/85classic. Members of the media may contact the Royals Publicity Department at (816) 921-8000.

Good catch, thanks I missed it! I would like to see it now. Hal got really screwed for the batting title that one year, it is kind of sad now.
