Poop Unlucky or is computer EVIL?

Well I need to start this by saying I believe that a computer can be EVIL for many reasons. It can be a launching point for a nuclear attack. It can be a device that starts the spread of a crippling virus that hunts down a Siemens system. It can be just something that gets a 10 year old in trouble for surfing porn. NO all of these things need someone on the other end of the keyboard for these things to MAKE the computer EVIL...

But what I am about to tell you is something that has made a PARTICULAR computer EVIL in a different way. Call it anything you want but EVIL is my description of choice.

3 weeks ago 1 of my schools here in Vegas had some problems on the LAN and it brought down the whole school to a crawl while on the Internet or just simply checking mail through FirstClass that is a LAN based email excluding outside emails coming in. ANYWAY... I worked with my corporate office for 2 days trying to figure out what was causing the issue. Finally they traced an IP address conflict with a DELL device on the network. I happen to know what this particular machine was since I had been fighting with it for 2 weeks trying to get it to take a NEW IP address and since the computer is about 8 years old it wouldn't. I had put a tag on the machine in a Kindergarten room to NOT use it. I even unplugged it till I could get a chance to take it out.

Well some little pencil-neck had plugged it back in and it was ON when I got to the room. SO I took the LAN WIRE clear out and took the power cord too. END of issue until I could get back to the computer.

Fast forward about 3 weeks and I get a message from teacher in the room with EVIL PC that asks when she can get a computer back in her room.

Well last Friday I decided to get that PC out and replace it with another and it was really weird because the PC that I replaced it with would NOT connect with the monitor that was in place. I tried EVERYTHING I could to get this monitor to work. Nothing.

Well I went back to my office and brought another monitor and everything was fine.

I made my way back to the office with this POS-PC that had given me nothing but grief since this whole thing started.

I placed the PC on my work table and went ahead and wrote ZERO's to the hard drive since I am going to put this in a pile of PC's to be picked up by the district for disposal.

After I was done I placed the PC on it's side by the door so I could take it and place it in disposal room on my way out to go home.

WELL .... this PC is flipping EVIL as they come. As I was turning around in my office to grab the trash can to place outside my door my laptop bag had struck the PC still standing on it's side and wouldn't you know it..... the gawdamn thing tips over and strikes me DEAD ON the Achilles tendon on my left leg. It hurt so f***ing bad I had to sit down a minute. Well the pain subsided and I kicked the PC on my way out the door and decided it could wait until next week to go in the scrap pile.

Low and behold Friday night my foot and ankle start to get sore. I thought nothing of it.

Saturday morning I could barely walk and by Saturday night I was taking some leftover Lortabs from surgery a few months ago.

I have had to take Lortabs every night just so I can sleep and I am sitting here right now, while on workers comp and taking every anti-inflammatory I can get my hands on and putting ice on this every half hour to keep pain down.

Can one PC be any more EVIL or Possessed to inflict this kind of pain and trouble to one person?

F*** I have the worst luck and and EVIL PC making it worse.

Sounds to me like a new NIC would have saved you lots of grief.

It's a frigg'n Dell half height machine.

Company I work for would NEVER buy a new NIC for an OLD Dell GX260. They are too cheap. Especially when I have 20 more POS's to take it's place.

Heh. You didn't have it coming but you made several mistakes along the way, professionally and personally. But you're trying to blame it on a PC. It's an awful lot like Eric Winston getting his QB killed and then lashing out at the fans. Fans don't block. Neither does Winston.
