Doesn't matter. No reason to be anywhere near the guy and even give the refs an opportunity to make a call like that. Just as there was no reason for him to be anywhere near the shooter on the last possession. The guy just forgot time and score both times. Too competitive for his own good perhaps, but at least we have somebody like that.

I thought so too. Particularly when they needed threes and he could sell out on the block. I'd have put him back.
I'd be playing him as much as possible if he's not in foul trouble. He makes them far better in every way (offense, defense, and rebounding).

Overall, what a shitty ****ing performance. We should have demolished their Triangle and 2. It should have been embarrassing. Hopefully Self gets back in the gym and back to work.
They had their 15 point win before the awful end there, but it would have been 20+ if they played well. Team is just too soft right now.

Annnnnd. **** Stan Van Gundy. I eventually just muted that shit.
Personally, I liked his analysis. Was right on the mark most of the game. Of course, maybe that's because he's the first analyst that's actually recognized Embiid for what he is and could potentially be.

The last few games is what i expected from the start. This team is too young to not have stretches like this. The Jayhawks will be a tough out in March though. That's all that matters.

Seriously, I can't find any record of me saying Embiid couldn't be #1 or me even arguing about him at all with you or anybody else. What were you referring to?

Some of us suggested it after the exhibitions, don't be so touchy. It's all good.

I'm not touchy, I'm just struggling to understand where you're getting this idea that I somehow disputed that.

Watching this final, I really think we'd have lost to both teams tonite if we played. Even Nova again.

Depends on if Embiid got into foul trouble again.

No wat in hell would I take Embiid #1. For one, big men arent as valuable in the NBA anymore. He also hasnt shown hes an elite defender. Hes still an NBA project. I would never, I mean never, draft a guy at #1 that is a project. #5? Sure no problem. I would have a difficult time not selecting Parker at #1

Yeah, Embiid is one of the best rebounders in the country. When he wasn't in, they were getting destroyed in the boards. If he didn't get into foul trouble, the game's outcome might have been completely different. He's going to have to learn how to get through games without fouling (although I found a few of his fouls awfully questionable by the standard of what they were allowing most of the game).
Wright has always given ku fits. It's not because they are better than ku. But they just happen to have a system that ku struggles with. One thing that enfuriates me about self is his half court offense. Self seems to struggle with energetic guards who can pressure the guards up top. Because the offense is pretty unimagitative about guards getting the ball to players in the post. It seems like you just need slashers at guard who can really maneuver into the lane.

The system works most of the time. But I'd just like to see self adjust when he plays a d like nova. It seems like the same types of teams can beat ku.

And they need a guy who can shoot. Their outside shooting is horrendous right now.

KU hadn't played Villanova in 5.5 years before last night (and only once in the last 8). And the last time they did was when they beat them easily during their national title run. Not exactly sure there's a meaningful trend to be found there.

Depends entirely on the kind of team Self has. If they have a team with a bunch of good ball handlers (see 2008), beating a team that plays pressure defense won't be a problem. This current team doesn't have that right now.

It's a weakness. Unfortunately, it may continue to be one. Frankamp looks nowhere near ready to play at this level yet and Greene can't play any defense at all.

He's not just any generic big man prospect/project, though. Guys with his size and skill set aren't exactly present in the NBA. The tools are also there to be an elite shutdown defender and that's what matters to NBA scouts.

I like Jabari, but his ceiling isn't as high as a few of the others. His game is also remarkably similar to Michael Beasley (which isn't necessarily a bad thing, I suppose, if he actually gives the effort that Beasley never did at the next level).

His attitude is infinitely better than Beasleys. I'd imagine hell be OK at the next level.

The problem I have with selfs high low offense is its really unimaginative about getting the ball into the post. When teams harass the three guys at the top, they have to work way too hard to get the ball to the guy in the post. In most cases, your guard has to really maneuver to get into the lane and open a passing window. Whenever they lose in the tourney that seems to be a common theme. Guards harassed up high and struggle to get entry passes into the post. Not all teams can do it, but some can.

I wish when that happens self could make adjustments. Try something more creative than basic motion up top. Move your guys around in the post. Etc...
