Battlefield 3

Anyone looking forward to this? I really like BC2, but haven't been playing it long.

Call of Duty will go head-to-head with Battlefield 3 in 2011.

The third game in the series, which will be shown to press during the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco next month, is set for release this coming fall, Electronic Arts confirmed.

The publisher revealed the first teaser trailer for the game on its official website tonight. The trailer, which contains no actual gameplay, displays quick cuts of helicopters, ground troops, tanks and fighter jets.

Additional details courtesy of the official Battlefield Blog confirm a full single-player and co-op campaign, jets, prone, and 64-player multiplayer for the PC version. The Frostbite 2 engine will power the game and a Limited Edition will be revealed around GDC.

Developer DICE confirmed earlier this morning it was canceling the release of Battlefield 1943 and the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Onslaught pack for PC.

Be careful with c4 though its easy to get over excited and suicide with it. Ill gladly suicide though if it means blowing up a tank that's kicking your teams ass.

yeah; and I've heard it's sometimes hard to use (other than for vehicles) because you have to stay in one spot/see the area you planted it etc.

I've been having fun with the Mortar lately, and mines. I've had really good success with both. Mines are fun as heck. especially in the areas leading up to the flag/capture that always seem to be captured by tanks/defended by tanks.

I absolutely love mines....I drop them everywhere in vehicle heavy maps. They can be an equalizer on tank heavy maps. Learn the obscure ways people drive around the maps to avoid mines and you can rack up a lot kills or at least vehicle disables. Mortars are tough to use in hardcore, you can't see the people your tying to kill unless they are spotted. Most of the time if I use them I hope I get lucky and not teamkill anyone.

I've concluded that I absolutely suck with the LMG in support class. I can suppress fire very well and get supressed fire assist points fairly regularly, but if I'm alone and see the enemy even somewhat close, I'm hesitant to shoot; I typically just spot them.

The things have so much kick it's hard to control accurately. Of course, and the whole shooting the enemy/getting a hit indcator as you put 5 bullets in them, only for them to turn around and kill you with one bullet thing.

I might start experimenting with Engineer or Assault. Although, when looking at my team and their roles, I rarely find anyone using support class.

If I end up defending the gas station, I'll hang out (on the map with Forrest, Checkpoint, etc); wait to see a tank pop up, and blamo. Works pretty well. Or I'll wait to see a red blip next to an objective and put in in that general area. I try to only light off 2 or 3 then get moving again.

Kharq Island is a good one I've had success with mortars as well.

This game is awesome. What little I've played of it so far tells me it's way better than modern warefare.

It shouldn't even really be a contest, that's what marketing dollars will do for you.

What I think is funny is that if Dice would have left out the mediocre single player, BF3 would have had near perfect review scores across the board. So basically the reviews scores were determined by a part of the game that most people abandon a week after they buy it.

....oh well, an hour and a half until Palko stars throwing INTs to Da Bears.

Finished the campaign. It was fun, but a quick game. I'm going to assume that this game is made primarily for online gaming.

Just had a couple games of rush where I never got a kill but I racked up the points spotting with the MAV. It's fun to spot and watch your team move in for the kill.

I hate that freakin' MAV... sounds like a mosquito buzzing you the whole map. They move so quick and are a pain to shoot down.

Probably because you can't actually do that in BF3... makes no sense.
