Putting down the bottle.

How many of you have done this? I'm starting to notice a pattern of me screwing shit up in my life and there always seems to be something involved.

Alcohol

I love drinking

But I'm sick of screwing up relationships and generally being a dumbass.

How many of you have done this? I feel like it's time (at least for a while) to cut the booze out of my life.

Any advice on what to do other than spend my weekend wasted drunk?

Pretty much this. Winter isn't helping my situation. I'd say a lot of my drinking has to do with being bored with life.

Well, it's certainly easy to get into a rut during the winter. Easy to sit inside, hang with a buddy or two, and get hammered, whether that be at home or at a bar. I just got myself too many projects and things that I want to do to spend too much time hungover. I still enjoy a good buzz on Friday or Saturday night, but I want to feel good enough the next day to wake up early, get some shit done, and enjoy the things in life that I enjoy doing. Take a Friday night off of drinking. Do something you like that night that doesn't involve the opportunity to drink. You will be amazed how great you feel on Saturday morning and how you will have the entire day to do whatever you want without feeling hungover all day. That is a good starting point.

I fixed my obnoxiousness issue by just making sure to bring someone more obnoxious with me. Problem solved!

This thread makes me wonder what ever happened to Endelt.

That guy was on a collision course with early death.

If you blackout/lost awake time while drinking, it may be a good idea to ease off awhile.

I use to drink in my early 20's, was never a big fan of it though.

Now in my late 20's, i've realized how emotionally scarred my alcoholic father left me.

I've grown to detest alcoholics. Drinking doesn't interest me at all anymore. I can barely finish a beer these days, while just two years ago i was all into trying new beers.

My wife likes to drink on the weekends and it drives me crazy. The moment i see a change in her from the alcohol I just wanna slap the shit out of her. I can't help it. It annoys me so much. Seeing drunks...get drunk is like nails on a chalk board for me now.

I can't explain it. It's so weird. I just get filled with so much anger the moment i have to deal with someone who's buzzed...not even drunk...buzzed.
