I'm not trading him away for ****ing peanuts. Especially considering that we have nothing opposite him in the defensive backfield.
I am not advocating getting rid of him, I woudl even pick up his 5th year option unless he goes complete knucklehead or continues to decline in play.

After that he can hit the streets.

Priority #1 this offseason needs to be finding another CB to play alongside Peters. Then maybe we can get a DC in here who actually likes to matchup his CB to a WR during a game. It's complete horseshit that Sutton isn't having Peters shadow a teams #1 WR.

Sure you can you can run to the ball for instance these gifs we keep seeing of him dodging sticking his nose in a play. Never know if he lays a lick he jars a ball out or strips one. Instead he chooses to lay back and let the lesser's do the dirty work.

Bottom line is the Chiefs need to get a lot more speed on Dee pretty much the whole dee edge rushers, line backers and secondary needs to be faster. Peters is not going anywhere. To many other needs, no #1 pick and still cap problems (which could free up money by cutting DJ, Hali and trading Smith) from the previous GM.

I agree with your assessment about lack of speed (and quickness). Our DL has a bunch of big, slow guys on it and our LBs may be the slowest in the league. I think our secondary has acceptable speed, but it's hard to tell when Sutton has them playing 15 yards off the ball. Anyway, this defense is S-L-O-W.

In another thread. This discussion is about Marcus Peters and how he's regressed both mentally and from an effort standpoint compared to his stalwart rookie year.
I don't have an issue with Houston. The point is, our biggest regression is that we aren't putting pressure. When we don't put pressure, our corners can't ball hawk. And it makes their jobs that much harder. Our regression in the secondary has a lot more to do with how much our pass rush has fallen off. Don't think many would blame our pass rush problems, on the other hand, on our corners. The pass rush is the symptom much more than the secondary.

Jones, Bailey, and Ford are regressing because they've been totally ineffective at getting push. Maybe some of that is scheme. But that is their own issue. A ton of any issues in our secondary can be blamed on another unit. For example, I don't think Mitchell has been terrible (apart from the deep ball) given how much is asked of him.

"Oh I thought I was ejected". That's an absurd excuse.
Maybe one of the coaches or some of the staff should have stopped him. He slowly walked off the field and was even escorted off by a staff member. Hell, he stopped to give a fan his gloves or something. If he "quit" why did he run back on without his socks? Mass confusion on a team with no discipline.

Not a good enough excuse for his drop off in play. There's more to being a CB in the NFL than ballhawking. If he wants to actually hone his craft and become a complete NFL caliber CB, then you keep him after 4 years. If he wants to continue to throw temper tantrums on the sidelines and in the games, and make "business decisions" when its time to tackle, then he can play out his rookie deal and **** right off.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

Pretty much.

This team doesn't seem to have much discipline though. As soon as Kelcee stops going full reerun Peters starts.

People keep saying Reid was good with "problem" players or guys with fiery tempers. There's a big difference between Reid and a guy like Hoodie. Hoodie gets guys like Moss to quit doing dumbassery.

Just being willing to put up with someone's bullshit doesn't make you good with people...
