Here are some easier to read translations on the map
" Ut Sit Magna Tamen Certe Lenta Ira Deorum Est- The wrath of the gods may be great, but it certainly is slow Cogito Ergo Doleo - I think therefore I am depressed Malum consilium quod mutari non potest - It's a bad plan that can't be changed. Sursum Corda- Lift up your hearts Credo nos in fluctu eodem esse - I think we're on the same wavelength aegrescit medendo- It becomes worse for the remedies employed. Hic Sunt Dracones- here there be dragons ( a reference to the monster?) I also see three perfect square roots the square root of 16,64 and 225 which are 4,8 and 15. These are on a hatch which seems to be called “the flame”. Oh, and Ursus maritimus is the scientific name for polar bear. The plane that flew over Locke's head was an Oceanic plane. Also, a few weeks back, Sayid and Hurley heard a Glenn Miller song on the transceiver. Glenn Miller disappeared in a plane over the ocean during WWII. |

Some savant decoded pretty much the entire map. This must be what Trekkies do in their spare time:

The time and detail put into the research on these sites is amazing AND it makes me ask the question... are these fans or people behind the scenes of the show feeding us?

It was nice to see Sawyer get knocked down a peg. Also, it looks like I was right. Just because the prisoner knew where a balloon was, didn't make it his balloon. |

A good episode, I guess...I did reveal what I had already assumed that 'Gale' was an Other and then the 'map' was revealed.
Somethings that have withered on the vine...such as: Why didnt Kate and the gal with the baby let anyone know about the medical hatch and the disguises? Why was Eko cutting down the trees he 'liked' and what is he doing wit them. Aside from Eko talking to 'Gale', he's been a non factor this season since he burned the plane. Hurley and the blonde's interaction happened in one show and that was it. Why does he think he knows her? Once I saw the 'map' revealed, I knew it would only be 24 hours before someone had it all 'decoded'.

Also, regarding the "trust issues", Kate and Claire know of another hatch, the medical facility, and the tailies know of yet another, where they were holed up for awhile. But how long until these idiots start comparing notes? |
