Geno Smith fans roll call

NEW THREAD HEADER (11/17/12):

The list is gone. We will all be Geno Smith fans when he gets drafted by the Chiefs. For historical documentation's sake, I'll keep the list in a separate post on this thread: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...postcount=3314

WHY GENO SMITH?
If you're wondering if Geno Smith is right for you, check out this brilliant post by Saccopoo:

http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...postcount=5388

Next, we have a few GIFs you may be interested in from the Oklahoma game. Insane potential. These are the elite throws that very few QBs can make. What more can I say? Geno Smith can be a franchise QB in the NFL, and the Chiefs need to take a shot on him.

GIF #1:
Spoiler!

GIF #2:
Spoiler!

GIF #3 (My favorite):
Spoiler!

HOW DO WE GET HIM HERE?

Glad you asked. I posted this checklist earlier. It probably belongs in the thread header, and will be updated as the Chiefs close out their season and start a new chapter in their franchise story.

Preparing for Geno Smith's Arrival In KC Checklist

1. [X] Lose games and acquire the #1 overall pick
2. [X] Get Pioli and the Patriot Way cronies the **** out
3. [X] Hire new GM/coach

OPTIONAL (but highly recommended):
4. [ ] Re-sign/tag Bowe, who really wants to play in KC with Geno
5. [ ] Re-sign/tag Albert

I do think that's a bit specious, though. Pioli would have drafted RGIII if he weren't such a goddamn idiot and thought he could just sit on his ass and a QB like that would fall to him.
I hope im wrong but I have this odd feeling that Pioli will still be here and RAC will be gone. Pioli will do whatever it takes to keep his job.

I had that feeling throughout the season. I'm now more than convinced especially since the Belcher tragedy that Clark knows he needs to move on. For the team more than anything.

I now have a feeling that after the Chiefs lose to the Raiders on Sunday, it will be either Monday or Tuesday immediately following where Pioli gets fired.

Just a feeling. A hunch. I have nothing to support it.

Geno should be our pick still IMO. We need to work him into our new system, whichever that may be. We can't run that stupid ****ing Holgorsen spread in KC. Geno would be a perfect WCO QB IMO. Running a variation of the WCO mixed with a bit of spread would be perfect.

But on a side note, I think the criticism of Mike Glennon is too much. He led a game winning touchdown drive against a top 5 defense in the FBS. Although he played conservative in that game, he loves to stretch the field. He plays under center quite a bit, and sells the play action pretty well.

His intermediate passes are usually pretty accurate, and he's not afraid to take chances downfield unless he's playing Florida State. His pocket awareness needs improvement, as he has been stripped a few times, but Geno is actually one of the worst about getting strip-sacked in the pocket.

Glennon is a late to mid first round guy in my opinion. He's a goofy lookin mother ****er. But I'd rather judge what he looks like with a helmet and pads on. He has some supreme potential.

I still would rather take Geno though. But we better work with him.

Remember back in late October when Mellinger was on 610 and said he's heard from several Chiefs officials that Pioli absolutely doesn't like to take 1st round QB's? (Note: Babb also mentioned that before he left as well).

Yeah I don't think he'll do it. But Clark will surely force his hand if/when he stays.

Pioli wants his Tom Brady style QB.

Tall, good character, plays in the pro style offense or takes snaps under center consistently and a has a high football IQ.

Since no QB has seperated themselves from the rest of the pack, I can see Pioli taking a guy like Matt Barkley because of he fits basically everything he wants.

Barkley seems like a Pioli pick. I can also see him taking Glennon should he move up the boards like Tyson Jackson did.

That's the way Pioli is. But if Geno gets fair ground ahead of these guys it will put the pressure on him to take the guy.

The one thing I can't ****ing stand in a QB is getting antsy.

Mike Glennon gets Matt Cassel-level antsy at times.

I agree with this. I don't care what Glennon looks like if he has potential.

Just don't understand why people dog him for his checkdowns when he's playing with D2 WR's that drop the ball 4 times a game. It's like he gets no passes at all but Geno gets every excuse in the world.

We'll see how good he is when he's on a level playing field next month at the Senior Bowl.

I didn't realize his WRs were responsible for him shitting his pants Matt Cassel style when pressure is applied.

Glennon doesn't check down nearly as much as you make it sound. I haven't followed some of things other people are saying about Glennon. I only know what I have charted and watched myself.

Against Fla State he checked down A LOT. But the pass rush was all over him. He didn't have time to hit a receiver deep.

The issue with Glennon is that he doesn't play the top level competition. He plays average at best competition for the most part. I look forward to his bowl game when he plays the 10th best pass defense in the country.

Like I said, he already led a game winning drive against the pass defense with the best YPP in the nation. That deserves a lot of credit when you take into account his receivers have dropped a ton of passes this year. Moreso than Tyler Wilson's or Geno's. Hell, against North Carolina, and Miami his receivers dropped a total of 12 passes in those two games alone.

I'm not here to love on Glennon. I'm just saying the things being said about him are too far to the left.

Wow try watching Geno play sometime. He's tall with great pocket presence and a high football IQ. More so than Barkley and "shits his pants in the pocket" Glennon, But he's black so he's automatically Vince Young :smh:

Or he plays in the spread and that will make him a gamble in Pioli's eyes. Pioli is the most conservative POS ever.

This has nothing to do with Geno being black dude.

I really do love the capabilities of Geno. I just hate how his talent is being wasted in that system. Throwing quick screens to Tavon Austin all day doesn't show off the talent. Although he's damn good at hitting a stationary target. Matt Cassel would be sailing those things into the bleachers.

Stop saying "D2 wide receivers who drop the ball a lot," RunKC. I watch a shitton of D2 football, and it isn't like the receivers at that level are drop machines. Far from it.

As far as antsy goes, I'm not a fan of Geno's happy feet. IMO Geno gets happy feet more than Glennon does. He does this awkward chopping and shuffling thing with his feet, but doesn't always get them planted correctly. The funny thing is, even when he's off balance, he still completes a good portion of his intermediate throws. If he can calm down a little, it could go a long way.
