The player doesn't typically know where a camera is shooting from, what angle is being taken, he has to be on his side of the ball, with his team, and lined up near his position, getting ready for next play. He just happened to be in the background of the Manning shot, but how ironic, the rook in the picture of the great one, because he had his number today.
