The only reason I hate the 8 division format is the possibility that a 8-8 or sub .500 team could conceivably win their division.

Tiebreakers are not correctly done on this site. Garbage.

I made a scenario so that 5 different NFC west teams finished with a 11-5 record (Dallas, Washington, Atlanta, Carolina, and Tampa). I ran the same scenario on my software. The Yahoo site correctly found the Division winner from the AFC South (Carolina). It also got the 5 seed right (Washington). But it picked Dallas for the 6th seed when the real 6th seed should have been Atlanta. I checked the tiebreakers manually just to make sure that my software was correct. I'm not sure exactly went wrong with their software, but it probably is because whoever coded it did not fully understand the tiebreakers. I've checked mine numerous times against the end of the season scenarios that the NFL gives, as well as actual end of season results. They're rock solid. |

OK, I figured it out. On certain types of ties, it doesn't even try to figure them out and just assigns some random out come. If you run the same scenario multiple times, it predicts different playoff teams.
