Game of Thrones (spoiler-free zone)
A few have suggested it, might as well test the waters. The idea is to give people who haven't read the books a safe place to talk about the show.

A few quick ground rules:
  • No Spoilers!!!!! for upcoming episodes.
  • Larger Song of Ice and Fire discussion should be limited to the other thread although I think a tiny bit of book delving to fill in holes should be okay (example of this would be talking about Catelyn and her treatment of the wolves in the novel, which was alluded to on TV but never really made clear...)
  • Everything that happened that week is fair game once an episode airs. So if you don't watch on Sunday night, I'd stay outta here until you do...

Quick theory, maybe GRRM sees himself as Tyrion, wrote that character as himself. Clever, quick witted, misunderstood and unappreciated because of physical appearances. Maybe Tyrion is the one white knight he doesn't kill off?

That entire story line has been frustrating/disturbing, but he's been excellent this season.

The book's story gets so much of the credit for the show's success....obviously deserved. But the performances across the board are what has really set it apart as one of the great shows of the era. With few exceptions, the actors have been outstanding.

I think the actors get more credit than you give them. Read a story recently from some of the cast members saying the original pilot was terrible and HBO didn't want it. They recast several parts and reshot, and the rest is history.

As good as Theon's been, I think Ramsay is perhaps the worst character on the show.
