Alex never has.
Bradys an OK deep ball QB. People obsess too much about the deep ball. But he is an elite QB at the short passing game, third downs, and has closed an insane number of games. He is a game manager but he does it at a hall of fame level. Alex is good not great at the short passing game, mostly bad on third downs, and has a limited track record closing games. That's the bigger reason for his lack of success, less so than not throwing the deep ball.

I disagree with Brady can't throw deep. I have seen him do it many times. There is a stat of all starting QBs on it. Smith was the last rated QB by a large margin.

We had many guys open deep last year, Smith either missed or never attempted. It is not in his wheelhouse. Even with Maclin this year I doubt you see him throw it in the air past 20 yards. I wish he would, even with an increase in ints. It keeps teams honest on how they play you. Brady will take a couple shots a game. From watching the Pats home opener though, they do not need to as they were getting 5-7 yard cushions from the 5-10 yard line to make easy catches and march down the field.

He is way over 39 so no one should actually think he is the same as always. Age hits NFL players like a hammer. One season you can still play and the next you can't. Brady will be next.

Basically the staff thinks the stuff about Manning being done is funny and the team is kind of playing rope-a-dope with the league because none of the new offense was shown in the preseason games. None. Even in the third game.

There is this assumption by a lot of NFL watchers that Denver's offense is going to be just as good as last year. Maybe. Probably not, though. Clady out for the year, new coach and offensive system (Manning no longer effectively coordinator), lost their TE, and of course, questions about Manning's health.

Denver had their window and blew it. They were dominant over the past three regular seasons, and didn't get it done when it mattered.

Yeah, that rope a dope strategy is going to be really effective over a 16 game schedule, where opposing teams obsess over the most recent week's game film.

Edit: And what about all the game film from Kubiak's time in Houston and Baltimore.
