Solid first half. Been awhile since it's been that good.

Hopefully that means that whatever it was in their system is gone now, and able to play some good basketball.

Love the new mentality of playing good players, and not playing shitty ones.

So, Aspirilla.

Buy in or quit victim, or the "drama" that was referred to?

THE CAPITAL-JOURNAL
MANHATTAN — Kansas State needed something to smash, and Texas Tech was sitting in the sledgehammer's path.
The No. 21 Wildcats worked themselves into a lather after dropping their first two Big 12 games, then released their aggression by pounding the Red Raiders 94-60 Saturday at Bramlage Coliseum.

Afterward, a reflective Frank Martin took the podium and turned the focus inward.
“I’ve done a bad job of coaching this team,” Martin said. “I've got to do my job better. I’ve let our kids down. I haven’t done my job the right way, and that’s not happening any more."

Martin relayed that message to his team after Wednesday’s loss to Colorado, allowing the Wildcats to purge the bad vibes that had accumulated after back-to-back Big 12 losses.
"What he did was, he made sure we understood he took full responsibility for this team," said senior Jacob Pullen, who scored 21 points. "Practice went to another gear yesterday."

That Friday practice still resonated a day later. Curtis Kelly called it the toughest he'd ever experienced, and it perhaps wasn’t purely coincidental that forward Freddy Asprilla was no longer with the team Saturday morning.
"Practice was hell yesterday," Kelly said. "I think that was just the start-up point, because (Martin) wanted to draw the line and see who was with us and who was not. Whoever stuck it out was going to be with us, and whoever didn't, he wasn't going to depend on no more.
“As you can see, Freddy's not with us no more.”

The hellish practice created quite an appetite, as the Wildcats needed only 10 minutes to completely devour Texas Tech.
Jamar Samuels fueled K-State's fast start, scoring 18 of his 22 points in the first half. At one point, Samuels forced a steal on the perimeter, ran the floor and dunked a pass from Pullen, who dished five assists without a turnover.
Kelly, back from a six-game suspension, also contributed. The senior forward returned to the starting lineup and capped K-State's furious start with a dribble, drop-step and dunk that put the Wildcats ahead 27-9.

“We knew it was going to happen,” Texas Tech coach Pat Knight said. “I know Frank’s probably gotten after them pretty good the last couple days. To me, watching tape, it wasn’t the same Kansas State team.
“I actually jumped Pullen, got on him a little when we were going through the line after the game. He's too good of a player to let that happen. They should not have gotten off to a zero-and-two start.”

Pullen’s response: “Hey, coach, we got our guy back.”
That guy is Kelly, the 6-foot-9 forward who scored 12 points and grabbed five rebounds in his return. Though his contributions have been minimal this year, his presence clearly provided a lift.
“It gives us our team,” Martin said.

The Wildcats, now 13-5 and 1-2 in league play, hope to make a clean break from the off-court turmoil and sluggish play that marred the first half of their season.
K-State looked like a different team Saturday, even if the struggling Red Raiders (8-10, 0-3) couldn't offer much resistance.

The change manifested itself in unexpected ways, including a reshuffled starting lineup that featured freshman shooting guard Shane Southwell.
Southwell, who averaged 4.4 minutes entering the game, played 28 against Texas Tech, finishing with five points, four assists and one turnover.
“I probably should have played him in the Oklahoma State and Colorado games,” Martin said, “but I didn’t, because I wasn’t doing my job the right way.”

Martin also tightened his rotation, playing his five starters at least 28 minutes apiece. Wally Judge and Nick Russell, sophomores who have started 11 and 14 games respectively, didn't leave the bench. Martin said Judge missed Friday's practice with an injury.
K-State also picked up the tempo, outscoring the Raiders 23-4 in transition.
“If you've watched us play the last three years, that's how we play,” Martin said. “We attack people, we run, we share the ball. That’s what made us a good team.”

It was hard to argue with the results. Aided by a career-high 15 rebounds from sophomore Rodney McGruder, K-State posted a 44-18 edge on the glass, shot 52 percent from the floor and scored 25 second-chance points on 17 offensive rebounds.
With a Big Monday trip to Missouri ahead, the Wildcats hope they have rediscovered their mojo.
“I’ve done a lot of reflection over the past four days,” Martin said. “We’re going to start playing some K-State basketball. That nonsense you guys have watched before today is over.”

I'm not convinced. These next 4 could determine our fate. Although we don't really have any "bad" losses yet. Maybe Florifa. Need to at least split the next 4.
