Old Men & Hot Rods
Wanted to share this, a story about my old man and his old Mercury. He had it just about finished when he fell and broke his hip last April. I never caught the strain of motorhead DNA he has, mine focused on computers and guitars.
Anyway, a nice story in the Wichita Eagle, with pics. http://www.kansas.com/2011/08/13/197...#disqus_thread |

My old man has always been a Ford/Mercury guy. A lot of the GM stuff has more space under the hood , so they're easier to work on, whereas the Ford/Merc's are tighter, so that aren't in as high demand... so you don't see as many of 'em getting restored/rodded. My dad will be twisting wrenches 'til his last day. Then he wants to be cremated and put inside a tire, then go travel the highways and byways of America forever.

Nice story man.
They're is a kind of satisfaction that comes with restoring any piece of American history, that you can not obtain any other way. Cars, trucks, tractors, steam trains, ect For some its a hobby. For others like me,its a HIGH kinda like time travailing. I am at my happiest around pieces from the golden age of steam,flat-head motors, old Maytags ect. |
