The kid was experimenting and smoked the bad cig. Pretty simple if you ask me.

We have all forgot about Mike. Mike might get upset if Gus goes after a DEA agent, since he was on the force himself.

IMO....There is no way Walt poisoned a kid......no matter how out of his mind he is. Walt draws up the plays and leaves it to Jesse to carry them out.

Not sure what was going through Gus' mind @ the end ..... but it made for an awesome scene.

Best show on TV ..... hands down.

That seems like a massive cop-out for this show. The kid is like 5.

Poisoning a kid and having Jesse almost kill you as a result isn't that ninja-like. It may almost be the opposite. It seems like the kind of play that's beneath somebody like Gus, as well.

The whole concept of the kid being deliberately poisoned seems somewhat far-fetched to me. Culprit would have to know Jesse has the cigarette, would have to know what that cigarette contains, would have to somehow successfully poison only the kid. Seems like a lot of moving parts. Easier to just shoot him.
A desperate plan from a desperate man perhaps. Which is what Walt was at that point.

He's run over drug dealers with his car, let a drug-addict girl die in front of him, and had a lab geek shot for him. He seems to be capable of quite a lot at this point.

Wouldn't put it past Walt. I'm hoping for accident, though. That would be great if the endgame was set into motion b/c of a careless accident.

I'm not sure if Walt not answering the phone for Marie, Skylar, or Jesse means that he was off doing something bad (like poisoning Brock), or if the writers just put that in there to make us think that.

I'm talking about the execution of the plan. It would take some stealth to pull that off. Got to get the cig, and then poison the kid, and nobody can see you do it.

And taking a different tack, I don't think Walt at that point has the mental capacity to pull much of anything off. He's holed-up in his apartment scared out of his mind.

My final thought would be that, from my perspective, this season (and well the whole series) has at least in part been about things unraveling around Walt, and how impotent he really is or would be as a "crime lord", especially in comparison to Gus, who we finally got some insight into this year. To have him (Walt) turn out to be some kind of Machiavellian criminal genius just seems off to me. Which is why I'm leaning towards/hoping for accidental poisoning, and not Walt putting all his pawns in motion while he twists his moustaches and cackles.

Also the mom said everything was fine with Brock and he got sick out of nowhere. If someone poisoned him, I'm sure he would have told his mom that someone approached him or something.

The other thing is that ricin has been established to be a slow acting poison (by the show), so it's not like Gus or Walt could have given it to the kid the night all this went down and then magically he's got flu-like symptoms the next morning. Unless I've misunderstood the way they've set it up.

That's true, anyway. Still, I think it's the kind of plan he might come up with in the heat of the moment.

How do you explain the gun spinning scene and disappearance throughout most of the episode? Seemed significant.

He's grown more and more pathetic at the same time, though. If the show is about him breaking bad, there aren't many things worse than poisoning an innocent child to get the upper hand in a game with Gus.

Wasn't the ricin in the cig in a tiny little vial? I don't think a curious kid could smoke the damn thing long enough to get through that to the actual poison.

I don't doubt he could come up with the plan. I'm saying I don't think he could pull it off. He's a smart guy, but like I said, how does he manage to physically get the ricin vial out of Jesse's cigarette pack? He could use other ricin, obviously, but they made a point about the vial being gone. And then if he does somehow get the vial, how does he manage to get to the poison into the kid, without poisoning anybody else? And probably most importantly - I didn't catch this myself until earlier tonight - how does he time it so that the kid's getting sick when he did. Wouldn't he have had to poison him at least a day before Gus takes him into the desert? They've talked over and over for years about how ricin takes days (although maybe it's different for kids).

My main thought during the gun spinning was "wow that was cool. wonder how many takes it took?" I'm not sure what the symbolism is supposed to be there (that's what we'll learn next week). My initial interpretation is that he thought he was doomed, and was looking for a sign. Which was finally, on the third spin, the gun not ending up aimed at him. But who knows.

I was thinking more along the lines of he found the vial in the cigarette and got potentially fatally curious, not that he smoked the cigarette and got ricin poisoning that way.

Esposito's comments here indicate that Gus didn't know the kid was poisoned before Jesse told him and that it was that clue that kept him from going near his car. That would leave two options left...that Walt did the poisoning or it was an accident.

I'm thinking the explanation that makes the most sense is that the kid isn't sick enough to die. Walt gave him something else that acts similar and has similar treatment. Then that big bouncer dude at Saul's place who was "frisking" Jesse somehow lifted his cigarettes and replaced the pack.

One other longshot weird idea is Tyrus, the henchman guy acting on his own. He seems to take everything very personally and actively hate Walt, and dislike Jesse. His reaction at the hospital was over-the-top when Jesse refused to come to work.
