Draft pick compensation for player lost time due to illegal hits?
If the league decides that the Geathers hit on Trent was indeed illegal, the most we will get is an apology from the league for not throwing a flag. Geathers might get a fine, but probably no more. Is that justice?
Assuming Trent misses significant time, that is a significant loss to our ability to compete. Should there be some compensation taken from the Bengals and awarded to the Chiefs, such as a draft choice? What about all the players that the Donks have injured with illegal blocks? Should have those teams been compensated for their loss of ability to compete? I'm only talking about when injury occurs that prevents a player from competing for a significant amount of time, and when the hit was the result of a violation of the rules. The round of the draft pick would depend on the contributions of the player and how long they were out for. I'm not advocating this proposal, nor do I think it will happen in a million years, just throwing it out there for discussion. |

Yes that is justice, people get hurt in the NFL that is a fact. No compensation should ever be required in the form of draft picks.

it is a nice thought, but wont happen. extremely bad precedent to set. How minor of an injury would the league allow for compensation?
I am firmly believing that if a player is put out by a cheap shot, the player giving the cheap shot should be suspended for as long as the injured player is out because of the injury. FWIW, I feel that Geathers will be fined, maybe $5000, but not suspended.

Week's salary as fine, with a minimum to league minimum for their position. The 'non-call' for not enforceing the rule. Refs give back half their salary for the day. Get a black mark in the officiating log. ALL OF THEM. This includes upstairs guys with override privilegs and camera for review. They had 11 minutes while carting Green off the field to get it right.

The Bengals should have to sit Palmer until Green returns. If they would implement this rule that shit would come to a screeching halt. Geathers teammates would be all over his cheatin' ass.
