They know the fan base is on edge. They need to sell hope as well as tickets. Their free agent signings give this team the chance to start winning immediately and drafting Geno gives the fan base hope for the future.

Drafting another position/player, especially an offensive lineman, is not going to give that type of elation to the fan base. Geno will, and he doesn't even need to play a single down in 2013 and we're still going to be giddy about the Chiefs drafting him.
