Have yet to have any RRoD errors, but in looking at the XBox forums, it would appear that both of my issues (the "watercolor" effect followed by no video and the DVD drive "grinding") are VERY common.

So my xbox has the RROD and they got the plain white box out to me to ship it back so I packaged it up and decided to walk over to UPS, on the way there a guy pulled up in is car and said:

"So how many will that make for you?"

I looked at him strangely and said "What do you mean?"

He said "xbox's? Iv'e returned 3"

He recognized the box from about 75 feet away

Then I make my way into UPS and from across the store the guy working there said "So another 360 bites the dust" I just shook my head then asked him how many a week he ships back and he said on average about 4 a week.

I'm starting to think the 360 was a bad idea. How could they release such a faulty piece of equipment? Anyway just thought I should share that with you guys, I didnt realize how many of these things failed till I walked over there.

Becuase they didnt test the heat sink over time. They fired it up. played it for a bit, everything was all good and the problems came out.

You should get the new one to where it shouldnt happen anymore. They are trying to flush out all the faulty ones.

I have had mine for a while now. I think i got it in jan of last year and i play it alot. My shit actually red ringed once i turned it off and it has been good ever since. This was back in Nov. I do have a PS3 now, so if it goes down i have a back up gaming system. lol

Bought my Core system in May of 06... No problems. Some one posted an article showing how many faulty systems were shipped back for repair in 07, including the 360 models. Cores were at the bottom of the list.
If I did have a problem with this system, I would buy another one (premium or elite).
