Why do I look forward to the draft every year?

It seems to me, the Chiefs always leave me with a sick feeling in my gut on draft day. Why do I look forward it each year? Tell me dammit. Cure me of this sickness before the Chiefs crush my hopes by not taking Geno Smith number one overall.

The draft is the beacon of hope for a franchise like the Chiefs that never put up anything good in the regular season.

If they pass on a QB, that beacon of hope will be gone. Just ****ing gone.

I used to look forward to ESPN and NFLN showing the behind the stage reactions/phone calls to/of the pick 5 minutes before the pick was announced.

Seriously? Pioli's gone, we hired a proven winner at head coach...and you're loathing this offseason?

I'd say we've done pretty well so far.

The uncertainty over the #1 pick, as well as the OVERWHELMING volume of people that think we should waste our one and only #1 pick on Phillip Space has pretty much ruined any actual anticipation I have of the draft.

Personally, I don't see any uncertainty. Geno Smith has as many tools as you could possibly want in a QB at the next level, has the experience, etc. Chiefs are desperate for a solid QB. It doesn't get any easier than that.

Especially considering that they took Poe last year, signed Winston, drafted Allen and Stephenson in 2012, have two of the top pass rushers in the AFC in Hali and Houston with Houston being young and Hali in his prime, have the second best running back in the NFL, an All-Pro at ILB in Johnson, a Pro Bowl level CB in Flowers, a Pro Bowl safety in Berry, and have filled up the middle of the offensive line with young, talented guys.

Three things were missing from the Chiefs. The three most important things:

A solid leader at GM, a good head coach and a QB that had the potential to be a top five guy at the position.

Two of those three have been rectified. Only Geno remains. And there is no way that either Dorsey nor Reid are that ****ing stupid to pass on a guy like Geno, a guy with that type of ceiling, at the most important position on a team.

Geno is the pick.

I wish I saw it that way.

It's the CHIEFS we're talking about.

I fully expect to hear Star or Joeckel's name called on draft day.

If Albert is resigned it won't be Joeckel. Could be Star but I doubt it.

This is my conspiracy theory...The Chiefs know they are taking Geno...Dorsey is saying what he is saying to keep other teams from locking into THEIR draft picks. Any confusion he can cause to Oakland et al is icing on the cake.

It used to be that you wanted to make sure you could sign the #1 because of money...that is no longer an issue. So why not blow smoke?

Either that or we all are way wrong evaluating Geno and he won't go until the mid 20's.

That's great. This is what is going to happen. Take it at #1, or regret for the next 30 years.:

I'd love to think you're right but I'm just too burnt. I'm just ready for the draft to be over with.
