Battlefield 3

Anyone looking forward to this? I really like BC2, but haven't been playing it long.

Call of Duty will go head-to-head with Battlefield 3 in 2011.

The third game in the series, which will be shown to press during the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco next month, is set for release this coming fall, Electronic Arts confirmed.

The publisher revealed the first teaser trailer for the game on its official website tonight. The trailer, which contains no actual gameplay, displays quick cuts of helicopters, ground troops, tanks and fighter jets.

Additional details courtesy of the official Battlefield Blog confirm a full single-player and co-op campaign, jets, prone, and 64-player multiplayer for the PC version. The Frostbite 2 engine will power the game and a Limited Edition will be revealed around GDC.

Developer DICE confirmed earlier this morning it was canceling the release of Battlefield 1943 and the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Onslaught pack for PC.

I just bought this tonight. If there are CPers who are interested in helping my n00b ass in the future, let me know. I played the campaign for a few hours to get used to the controls, but it was kind of "meh" to me. I know this is a game that is almost solely meant for online content, though.

Seine definitely can be maddening. But over time I have come to like it. Use the buildings, don't just go running around thinking you can be Rambo. IRNV helps seeing people in the buildings.

Grand Bazaar I hated at first but like it more now. The first few days where everyone seemed to camp at the bottom of the stairs on either side of alleyway is pretty much a thing of the past now on PC. thank heavens

My favorite maps by far are Tehran Highway, Caspian, Kharg, and Op Firestorm.

Canals I really don't like as a TDM map, but as a Conquest and Rush map they are pretty good.

If I'm feeling like pissing people off I always go Metro conquest. Nothing more funny than pissing half of a team with the USAS-12 with frag rounds.

Can't wait for the Karkand expansion to come out. Not only do we get Karkand and Oman. It looks like Sharqi is a night map this time around. I'm a big fan of night maps.

I played this on PS3 for the first time last night...didn't do so hot. It will definitely take some getting used to.

I noticed that I often have different weapons choices when I join a new game. One game I'll be able to have the M4, but the next it will give me an AK47. I really haven't unlocked anything yet though. I just thought it was strange.

The sound quality is great, but the controls and movement seem sluggish. And maybe it was just the games I was getting in, but there were tons of people camping. Probably a bunch of noobs like me feeling their way around.

I think I have something in my game about some DLC...can't recall exactly what it is. Either way, I'll probably end up buying those as well if I don't have a code in my game package.

this game just gets better and better as you get more experience and unlock new goodies. But man....that first few rounds climbing the ranks was burtal lol.

I think it depends on what 'team' you're on. If you're an American force, or Russina/opposition force etc.

I've only played Conquest so keep that in mind when reading my post:
It took a while for me to get my stick sensitivity set to where I liked it (NTTAWWT). And yeah, depending one what game mode you're in - Conquest, or Rush - there can seem like there are lots of campers. I thought the same thing until I realized that they were probably defending a flag or MCOM respectively.

I quickly realized that I had to sort of plan my route from A to B if running out in the open/crossing a large area. Sometimes, I would just find an alternate route. But, typically when moving at all/advancing etc, taking cover, or taking a route to where you canget to cover quickly is a must.

Also, I recommend sticking with a squadmate or teammate as much as possible. If you both encounter a runner/gunner/lone wolf, chances are he won't get you both. if he does cap one of you, you can respawn onto that squadmante or vice versa. Depending on what class each of you are running, you can support each other with ammo packs and medical packs. And, you don't want to be alone if you turn a corner and you have 3 guys from the other team staring you down, etc.

And remember, in Conquest, it's all about capturing the flags/objectives. If I recall, if your team captures more than 1/2 the flags, the other teams tickets start getting used up at a rate of like 1 per 3 seconds or something. I've played with an entire team before that didn't capture a single flag because they were all worried about their own K/D ratio. So, that can get frustrating.

Finally, remember your role/class you select and do that job. Engineer, fix things and blow chit up. Assualt.....advance/assault and lay down med packs. Support, lay down a butt load of fire and drop ammo. Support is great when you're with a buddy - you can suppress the enemy/keep him pinned down while your buddy gets closer/takes him out if you don't first.

Sorry for the long post; but I had a really tough time starting out too as this was my first BF game. But man, it truly does get better and better the more you play it. Especially if you get in a squad/team that knows it's not MW3/BOPs and plays the game as a team.

I'm on PS3; tag is bubbjo23. hit me up some time. I try to play a little during the week, and usually play a good chunk of hours on the weekend.

That's because it depends what team you are on. The unlocks are available for both teams, but the default weapons are different for each team.

If you pre-ordered the Limited Edition you will get at least the Karkand expansion for free.

If you are playing on a PS3 you will get BF1943 and the Karkand expansion for free. EA did say that they weren't going to honor 1943 and instead release the Karkand expansion a week prior to PS3 users. They promptly had a lawsuit against them for that and now the 1943 deal is back on for PS3 users.
