The Kansas City Chiefs need a quarterback, but there aren't any this season that look like a top-ten talent, much less a No. 1 overall pick.

The way Mike Mayock sees it, the Chiefs should be looking to the offensive line for their first overall pick. And there are only four players worth the No. 1 overall pick in this draft for Kansas City: Alabama guard Chance Warmack, UNC guard Jonathan Cooper, Texas A&M tackle Luke Joekel, or Central Michigan tackle Eric Fisher.

Mayock said on a conference call Monday that some people will say he's crazy to potentially take a guard at No. 1 overall, but Mayock says Warmack is the best player in this draft. So he doesn't see it as crazy at all.

In the end, Mayock believes the pick could come down to Joekel or Warmack. This is a draft where the top-shelf players don't stand apart too much, and there may not be a huge difference between picks 5 and 25. That makes it a tricky spot for the Chiefs.

Don't be surprised if Kansas City builds from the inside out, and finds their quarterback of the future later.

@Jacobs71: When I asked Mayock about who fits Reid's system at QB: " I think Matt Barkley makes a lot of sense."

@Jacobs71: Mayock:" He's a guy as a junior at USC looked so much different than he did this year."

@Jacobs71: Mayock:"With Landry Jones and Tyler Wilson, I think all three of those guys you have to go back and watch junior tape. "

I'm almost starting to think that Jarvis Jones should get into this convo.. Spinal thing or not. The guy is very DT like and I want another DT!
I really really REALLY hope that Andy Reid and John Dorsey know what they hell they are doing. This, of all years, is the time player evaluation is going to be KEY.

No he's not.

He's not even close to DT. The only guy that's ever been close to DT since DT in terms of that insane first step is Von Miller.

Jarvis Jones is the same guy as Jerry Hughes when he came out of TCU a couple of years ago. He's not DT. He's not Von Miller. And neither of those guys went #1.

Jarvis Jones at #1 is insanity sauce. And that's not even including his degenerative neck injury.

There is the possibility that the Chiefs take Joeckel or Star at #1 and Smith, Barkley, Wilson, and everyone else turn into mediocre quarterbacks. I want Geno as much as the next person, but the QB or bust mentality is a little strange to me.
