Geno Smith fans roll call

NEW THREAD HEADER (11/17/12):

The list is gone. We will all be Geno Smith fans when he gets drafted by the Chiefs. For historical documentation's sake, I'll keep the list in a separate post on this thread: http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...postcount=3314

WHY GENO SMITH?
If you're wondering if Geno Smith is right for you, check out this brilliant post by Saccopoo:

http://www.chiefsplanet.com/BB/showp...postcount=5388

Next, we have a few GIFs you may be interested in from the Oklahoma game. Insane potential. These are the elite throws that very few QBs can make. What more can I say? Geno Smith can be a franchise QB in the NFL, and the Chiefs need to take a shot on him.

GIF #1:
Spoiler!

GIF #2:
Spoiler!

GIF #3 (My favorite):
Spoiler!

HOW DO WE GET HIM HERE?

Glad you asked. I posted this checklist earlier. It probably belongs in the thread header, and will be updated as the Chiefs close out their season and start a new chapter in their franchise story.

Preparing for Geno Smith's Arrival In KC Checklist

1. [X] Lose games and acquire the #1 overall pick
2. [X] Get Pioli and the Patriot Way cronies the **** out
3. [X] Hire new GM/coach

OPTIONAL (but highly recommended):
4. [ ] Re-sign/tag Bowe, who really wants to play in KC with Geno
5. [ ] Re-sign/tag Albert

What a disappointing bowl season for QB evaluation. Geno has his worst game of his season, Barkley isn't going to risk an injury without having a shot at the national title, no Wilson, no Bray. KC fans can be captivated watching Landry Jones in a few days.

Can you imagine the melt down on CP if we had even drafted Watt? Not that there was a chance anyway as he went 11 and we drafted 26.

Though, a case could have been made for Muhammed Wilkerson instead of Baldwin. But that would have been another complete meltdown.

Actually, in hindsight for the 2011 draft, they probably should have drafted Wisniewski for center instead of Baldwin and picked Hudson and left him at guard.

But, at the time of the draft, Baldwin probably made the most sense due to the tremendous lack of depth at the WR position that the Chiefs had. And I think that with a QB that can get the ball downfield, Baldwin still has some value to this team.

Baldwin cant get open versus anyone. Unless he gets his shit together, it wont matter if Geno can get the ball down the field, when all Baldwin does is fail to get separation and jump up and TRY a one handed catch, which he has yet to make except in practice.

Lots of Chiefs fans like to say all of them Baldwin, McCluster, Moeaki, Breaston are busts but I'm pretty sure if we draft Geno and he is decent right from the start, one or two of those receivers will really emerge.

We currently don't have a QB BECAUSE WE HAVEN'T EVEN TRIED TO ****ING FIND ONE.

Give me more tired sports cliches. They don't make you sound like a ****ing idiot at all.
If our GM has Geno rated 17th on his big board, there's something ****ing wrong with Geno.

The fact of that matter is that Buck Brooks word is being taken as gospel by Sac. So I guess since his word is being taken as gospel, Bucky must be right that Geno is the 17th rated prospect in the draft.

And if a QB is rated as the 17 best prospect on your big board, yeah 16 players in front of him, than that says you don't believe he's very good and you're a ****ing dumbass to take him with the first pick.

It's called position value you ****ing idiot.

And that's ignoring all the arbitrary rankings you're throwing out of your butthole right now. Again, these reeruns had RGIII not even in the top 20 overall players at this time last year.

Get raped.

The sad thing is, if we draft Geno and he sucks the same homers will claim "he isn't being used right" "he has no WR's" "Oline sucks" "OC sucks"...etc. Geno has really brainwashed some of you folks, it's quite sad.

EDIT - seriously, is this SNR idiot Geno's brother, or does he just have a raging boner for him? Good God you are a whiny bitch when someone questions Geno. You little punk.

I'm not sure you understand what a quick release is. It has nothing to do with how long he holds on to the ball. A QB's release is the time from when they identify their target and start their wind up, to the time the ball leaves their hand. Some QB's have a quick effortless release, even downfield, and others have long wind up baseball pitcher type releases ala Cassel and Leftwich.

Geno has a very quick release.

Quote:
Yeah he has done this. But not very often. He locks on his 1st read ALL THE TIME. Watch the OU game. Perfect proof of that
The best argument for this is, look at his completion percentage, 71%, who cares. He goes to his first target b/c he can.

Quote:
He may be a hard worker, but he must not be understanding it, especially yesterday. He studies hard all summer and has played a team twice, but then he still struggles against that same defense? Not buying his football IQ.
Duh. What exactly is a guy playing behind a Swiss cheese line against a top ten tackles for loss defense supposed to do? All he could do is drop back, and hope he didn't get creamed.

Quote:
Austin picked up 909 of his 1266 receiving yards after the catch (71.8% of his total receiving yards)

Bailey picked up 553 of his 1501 receiving yards after the catch (36.8% of his total receiving yards)

These two players account for 69.1% of Geno Smith's passing yards.
What's your point? Yes Tavon and Bailey took short passes a long distance from time to time. More often though, Geno hit them 30yds downfield behind the defense where nobody could tackle them unless they were caught from behind. If Geno hits Tavon at the 50 from his own 20, and Tavon takes it the remaining 50 untouched, 50 of 80 yards being after the catch is the majority, but no less impressive for Geno.

That doesn even account for how well Geno leads receivers on slants and crossing routes, allowing them to catch the ball in stride and run for Big gains.

Quote:
Really? Is that why good defenses are getting the best of him? He should have had 4 INT's in the OU game, but the DB dropped easy INT's that hit their hands. Easy INT's in the NFL.
Most games, he played well enough to win in, the 106th ranked defense let WV down more than Geno ever did. He did have bad games though, every QB does.

Jags took Gabbert out of positional value. How'd that work out?

If Geno is not a top 10 prospect, then that means he has serious concerns and taking him at #1 is a Tyson Jackson like reach. But hey, Tyson Jackson was taken for that same reason! Neeeeddddddd.

If Geno is a top 10 prospect in April, then yeah take him at #1 overall. If he's 17th then holy shit man. Why?

The Dolphins didn't follow positional value and took Jake Long instead of Matt Ryan. How did that work out for them?

What's next, reerun? Gonna throw some "Ryan Leaf happened" arguments out there?

Tons of mock drafts, nearly every one is us taking Geno. This 'geno isnt good enough to go #1' stuff is just a vocal minority of dumb shits with Mel Kiper hair.

Jake Long is a top 5 LT. I would say it actually didn't work out that bad. And their QB this year looks pretty decent.

If Geno was rated the 50th best prospect you would still take him at 1 huh?

If Glennon balls out in his bowl game, he's likely to pass up Geno Smith. I know it hurts, but it's true.
