DayZ

With the DayZ standalone playable alpha release looming, I thought I would check out the mod version of the game. http://dayzdev.tumblr.com/

If you dont know, DayZ is an open world survival zombie game modification based off of the military sim ArmA 2 games. www.dayzmod.com

Basically its hardcore mode survival against zombies and even more dangerous, other players.

I have been watching vids for months and took advantage of a steam sale today to pick up ArmA 2.

Anyone playing DayZ right now? Servers? Thoughts? I have a teamspeak we can use!

The more I play my X1 the less interested I am. I don't know if it's because I am older or what, but thinking about just going all in with pc gaming. I want to play it with you guys.

It was a long belly crawling tree hopping firefight.

TBH we though there where only one till one snuck up on stanley and killed him on the hill, the other guy was on the beach side, they had a nice crossfire trap set up.

Could somebody tell me what it would cost to build a PC that can play this game well? I do not need ultra graphics or what not. My friend was running it on "medium" settings to help out with some of the bugs that **** up the FPS (a couple of weeks ago), and the game still looked beautiful.

Game is CPU intensive, my CPU (i5-4670k) runs it well enough, but I wouldn't want anything worse. The game isn't super optimized yet, and I think it only uses one core of the CPU.

My CPU was $220 or so.

I am still on the fence about downloading this game. It's pretty much 50/50 detractors vs. supporters. I did grab Hawken though after I got my PC back, having a blast with that one.

Then I guess my next question is, how well will it possibly run on the PS4, and should I just be patient and wait for that? I realize the game is a year out, and it is going to get larger (I doubt the PS4 will have 80-100 person servers, but I have no clue).

It sounds like Microsoft is trying to put down the cash so Dayz doesn't come to ps4:

To be honest, and this isn't me being all gung-ho about the PC, but I don't see how this game will ever work on a console.
