If the Chiefs go 8-8 or better 49ers get a 2nd round pick.

A third- or second-rounder from Kansas City, the remnant of the Alex Smith deal. Now it can be told: The second draft choice San Francisco will receive from the Smith deal will be K.C.'s second-rounder in 2014 if the Chiefs go 8-8 or better this season. It will be a third-rounder in 2014 if Kansas City is under .500 this season.

So: San Francisco will probably have first-, second- and four third-rounders next year. But if the Chiefs surprise, it'll more likely be a one, two twos and three threes. As we've seen, GM Trent Baalke is dangerous with extra picks in his hands. If Colin Kaepernick is very good, the Niners should be annual contenders for years with the picks laid out that way.

Alex Smith isn't the problem. The insane price they paid for Alex Smith is the problem. They shouldn't have given up one 2nd for him, much less two. I would have taken any QB not named Cassel for free over Alex Smith for two seconds. Because I believe it's debilitating on draft day and detrimental to the long term success of the franchise.
Let's be honest here this team would probably go .500 WITH Cassel this year.

It took a cluster **** of epic proportions to get where we were last year.

Top to bottom this team was a cluster ****

Ian Rapoport confirming Albert won't be traded and both sides want a long term deal and yes Albert will be the starting LT while Fisher is the RT.

So, I was asking if you thought that good coaching from Reid, Chilly, and Pederson, could of done the same for Cassel, since apparently any qb would do.
Actually, you don't quite have this part right. I would have expected you to know this. In 2010, Alex was putting together some nice performances after Jimmy Raye was fired. Obviously, this was pre-Harbaugh.

(just yapping now in general, not specifically to the person I quoted)

People want to take Alex's overall body of work as some sort of evidence that he is a poor QB. I don't get that. The NFL is a what-have-u-done-for-me-lately? entity. Look at what Alex has done in the last few years... and that gives you an accurate picture of the QB you are getting.

Every fan loves their precious draft picks, and on the surface, I can see and make sense of the outcry I have been reading. But people, really... some of the things I have read throughout this thread are just shameful and miserably negative. How arrogant can fans be, when they condemn and force premature conclusions on such F/O moves? My my.. have some f**king faith and stand strong with your team. You may not agree with every move, but c'mon already. Like it has been stated twice in here... the vaginal bleeding is embarrassingly disturbing.

Where are all the Packer fans? We got the Pats with Pioli, Eagles with Reid, and 9er toads with Smith.

When do the Pack guys arrive?

Actually, I think the Eagles guys have been the best to come across.

Except your post is complete bullshit speculation. No basis at all. Speculation, but you're right really, nothing more needs to be said.

Reid has shown absolutely no reluctance to move on from a QB and go to someone else, but no one ever wants to look at their past history.

But constant complaining when not one snap in any game has taken place yet.

The fact that they wrote that clause into Chase Daniels contract tells you that they aren't all in on Alex Smith.

Alex Smith gets the first shot at being this teams franchise quarterback, but is in no way cemented as the ling term starter yet.

It's ceebz, it is what it is.

However, I was thinking about this today. Reid has shown to move on from guys regularly. People like to point at what we gave up for Smith that he's the longterm answer. I think he's the longterm answer, if he shows he can be.

What we gave up, while alot, doesn't really show either way. THey gave up what they gave up to get him. I think there was probably more competition for Smith than we know, based on how what others have done with the QB spot this year.
