Yeah, once you understand icing and offsides, you're pretty much good to go.

There are nuances to understand about the penalties, just like in football.

I really understood the game once I started going to Kings games (thanks to my awesome STH next door neighbor who got us into hockey) because you can see the whole game happening. Line changes, formations, passing lanes, etc.

If the other team is on a power play, you can clear it down the ice with no penalty. But if the teams are even strength, you can't. And you also can't substitute players when you ice the puck or you might be tempted to do it just to get fresh legs on the ice.

If that Callahan to Backes play would have connected, that would have been the goal of the Games thus far.

Obviously it increases our chances for gold if Canada loses today (which I doubt they will). But if we win gold, I want a win over Canada to be a part of that.

It'd be among the biggest sports upsets ever, I'd think.

Don't care as long as we win...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

I almost think the Latvians' best chance is to survive till the shootout. I have trouble believing Canada will let them get another good rush for a goal.
