Even after his last two seasons, would you still trade Alex Smith for Phillip Rivers?
A buddy of mine and I at work were discussing this today. He says no way but I'd do it in a heartbeat. I cant stand the douche and he has been pretty bad lately but I still think Rivers has more potential to get us a playoff win than Alexis. And yes, Im that beat down as a Chiefs fan...all I want is one playoff win.

AI smith just completely dissolved. Maybe its the whope success comes in cycles theory, but their past 3 drafts have been entirely underwhelming(and I like liguet and reyes)

Yeah, it would be insane. I have a good friend that's a life-long Chargers fan that told me the day it happened that they fired the wrong guy.

Marty absolutely needed to go. In the two years prior to his firing, he nearly destroyed Brees' career in a meaningless game in '05 because of his stubborn refusal to play Rivers, threw the dumbest challenge flag in league history in '06, was blatantly insubordinate (same reason he was fired in Washington) and tried to hook all his family members up with jobs regardless of qualification.

I maintain that firing Marty was smart, as we were never winning a title with him - but keeping AJ and hiring Norv pretty much closed the title window right after it opened.

It's weird, I agree. Maybe he was using Butler's notes for a few years after he died and once those dried up, he was left to his own devices.

All I know is that the guy belongs no where near a draft room, let alone, running the show.

IIRC, they drafted him to be the left tackle. They had planned to move him but for whatever reason, chose Derrick Sherrod the following year.
