KC showing interest in Jonathan Scott?

From the reports on NFLDraftCountdown it seems that we are taking a very long look at him this week.

JonScott is training in Houston and at the Scouting Combine next month he plans to run in the 4.9 range and hopefully get up to 30 reps in the bench press, which would be huge since strength is a big question that scouts have about him. Jon will be seeing time at right tackle as he volunteered to try that side after a couple of other high-profile tackle prospects on his team (who shall remain nameless) indicated they only wanted to play on the left side. Scott will also be long-snapping in the game as he has some experience there and was more than willing to do it. I asked his father Ray about which teams were showing the most interest in his son and he mentioned Kansas City, San Diego and Miami as being the most prominent.

The Kansas City Chiefs couldn't have shown any more interest in Jonathan Scott, cornering him for almost the entire time between the end of practice and when he had to catch his bus. The Chiefs also had three scouts talking to Manny Lawson, four with Pat Watkins, two with Kamerion Wimbley and were seen with Marcus McNeill, Marcedes Lewis, and Mark Anderson as well.

Mercedes Lewis could become a very good TE at the next level, but we don't need another TE. I sure hope we go in another direction.

He won't be available in the 2nd, but if he was I'd have no problem taking him. He'd be far and away the BPA at that point.

I'm extremely wary of Texas tackles, especially after the report said he looks soft this week. The last Texas tackle who went high is looking real nice up there in Buffalo.......

So our current strength is 4-3 LBs, but we're going to ignore that and start drafting OLBs for the 3-4, while ignoring the fact that we don't have the NT for it?

If he were the size of Davis and Williams I would have more concern. Those two really are not really enough for me to write of UT tackles. Williams seems to be frequently injured as well.

Switching to a 3-4 makes no sense for this team. We barely have any of the parts. Meanwhile, we're a few parts away from a good 4-3.

Agreed. I think a switch to 3-4 would be more because its trendy than it making sense. We would basically have to scrap our line and start over.

Not only do we have to scrap our line (and the one bright spot in Allen), I'm not sure we'd take full advantage of our current LBs. Not many of them are suited to play a 3-4 OLB. So we have Mitchell who's just come into his own, DJ who has the sky as the limit, Fox and Griffin as promising up and comers, and a broke down Bell. Not to mention Barber, Scanlon, and Grigsby. All competing for two ILB spots.

It just doesn't make sense. People see all our LBs and think "hey, we can get 4 of them on the field in a 3-4". But the reality is, we'd be rendering a lot of these guys useless.
