lol Wrap your shit in a towel and force it to red ring, just keep a fire extinguisher next to it. lol

I have never heard of them breaking down like that. It always gives you some kind of indicator if its not working correctly.

Should justcall up tech support and see what they say, if not, seriously try to force yoru shit into a red ring.

Actually, this problem is very common. I have found a ton of sites with people having the exact same problem and M$ hung them all out to dry.

Everything I have read about this "towel" method indicates it is only a temporary condition and the unit will start doing its normal thing again.

How long am I supposed to keep it wrapped if I do go ahead and do that?

As common as this problem seems to be it irks me that M$ doesn't cover this.

My problem started with a "watercolor" effect and ended with no video. It was the GPU.

And they ended up replacing it, even though there was no RROD.

Guess that explains why the same fix for the RRoD is working for the video problem. Something to do with replacing the heatsink X-cross mounting. They really need to just go ahead and include this in the 3 year warranties. Sounds like they might be by default but they don't come right out and say it.

I called them and repeatedly referred to the posts in the official forum detailing the problem and they finally relented.

They do still send the coffin right? I selected that option but just got an email telling me to package the product and print a shipping label. When I go to the repair site it doesn't have an option to print a shipping label. It does show the order is in process and a picture that says box shipped but it has only been an hour. No way they have already shipped a box.
