Ezekiel Ansah Impressed At Scouting Combine Despite Never Training

NFL Draft 2013: Ezekiel Ansah Impressed At Scouting Combine Despite Never Training

Ezekiel Ansah Impressed at Scouting Combine Despite Never Training
BYU Cougars star defender Ezekiel Ansah blew up the 2013 NFL Scouting Combine just shortly after impressing NFL scouts at the Senior Bowl. At the combine, Ansah ran a 4.68 second 40-yard dash, added a 34.5-inch vertical jump and broad jump of 9-foot-10. The numbers were off the charts for a man that stands 6-foot-5, 270-pounds, but a nugget of information that surfaced makes those numbers even more impressive.

According to the National Football Post, Ansah had his standout performance in Indianapolis despite never training for the combine. He decided to stay in class while others were getting trainers to specifically train for the combine.

Per the National Football Post:
Many people were impressed with Ziggy Ansah’s 4.56 40 yard dash at 271 pounds, and rightfully so. But they would have been more impressed if they knew Ansah didn’t even train for the event.

Unlike probably every other player in attendance, Ansah kept going to class and never worked with an outside trainer to prepare for the combine. In fact, the 40 yard dash he ran at the combine was the first of his life, according to his agent Frank Bauer. It should be noted, however, that Ansah did run 100 meter dash and the 200 meters on the Brigham Young track team before he became a football player.

The numbers are incredible and it just goes to show how scary and exciting of a prospect Ansah is.

Ansah is still learning the game of football and has a lot of learning left to do. Once he gets to the next level with NFL coaching staffs and legitimate trainers, his potential is limitless.

It is becoming more and more obvious why NFL teams are viewing Ansah as a top fifteen selection, despite not having much film onthe defensive lineman.

Ziggy Ansah is going to be a BAMF in the NFL. Mark it down.

No kidding. Tamba was called NFL ready and "maxed out" (folks hilariously wrong on here about that). Ansah is green with sky potential.

It was still being said that Tamba was "still learning how to play football" when we drafted him.

Not saying that Ansah is Tamba, but I'd say the kid has a great chance to be a good NFL player.

No Tambi was 100% effort guy...

Here's Ziggy:

Has admitted to a lack of stamina. Fatigue is noticeable after a few plays of rushing the passer. In those circumstances, does not chase the play down from the backside, instead staying at the line of scrimmage to knock down the pass. Technique is not always there, specifically on the edge against the run. Frequently gives up the wrong arm or shoulder to blockers, takes himself out of the play. Hand fights at the line against the run rather than driving or penetrating to disrupt. A hit or miss player on the field but consistency is growing.

JFC the guy just added a shit load of weight before that season. Of course he had stamina issues.

I could see taking either position but not training for the combine and doing your homework is < other college students doing homework AND training for combine.

Tamba Hali had 11 sacks and was All Big ten and Big Ten d-lineman of the year

and was picked 20th overall

this guy had 4.5 sacks in Joe Blows Cake n Bake Sissy conference and they are thinking about taking him at 1 or if they trade down to the top 15?

what a joke to try and compare the two. Completely different everything besides they are foreign nationalities.

There is no way an agent and his agency let a first round prospect not train for the combine.
